Antibiotic Overload?

I had my follow up with my LLMD today. I explained to him that besides the first 3 weeks in February, I have been getting worse since starting treatment back in August of last year. And I'm currently coming off my worst herx since starting treatment (going on day 10 since ending my last round of antibiotics). The Flagyl really messed me up this time around. Bad!

He explained that everyone is different, and I had been chipping away at it since the start of treatment, and most likely made a break through this past round and let the critters loose. So, while I was on a 2 week on/ 1 week off regimen, he wants me to start a 2 week on/ 2 week off regimen for now... which is fine by me. However, he has added in some more abx. I'm already taking Omnicef, Bactrim, Flagyl, Mepron, and a couple herbs. Now he wants me to add in Plaquenil (which he says helps the abx really penetrate the cells) and Diflucan (for yeast) my next round. And then add in Rifabutin one my next round.

So, this means on the last day of week 2 of my next 2nd round of treatment I will be taking Mepron, Cefdinir, Plaquenil, Rifabutin, Bactrim, Flagyl, and Diflucan. That's a lot! Has anyone else been on a protocol like this?

He's also given me a pretty hefty detox protocol to follow along with a Herx flare up protocol.

My LLMD didn't say. I assumed it would be ok since he prescribed it. But, I will call to make sure. I have to call regarding the schedule anyhow tomorrow.

I'm pulsung. Taking everything but the Flagyl and Diflucan, Mon, Wed, Fri. Diflucan on Thurs and Fri of both weeks. And Flagyl Thurs - Fri of 2nd week only.

Girlie - I just read about the interactions between Mepron/Rifabutin. It's a bit disconcerting that he added those two together.

I knew about Rifampin but wasn’t sure about Rifabutin .


Hmm - just trying to remember if Dr J ever does then together - I’m thinking he has them on different weeks.


Isn’t all this just nuts? What we have to deal with ?
