I want to comment something, but please do not let anyone take these words as something true ... it's just my own experience.
I have been on antibiotics for several months and tired of getting worse, stopping antibiotics, detox, renaming antibiotics ...
These last weeks I had little hope that one day I could improve, and sunk in despair decided to try the 'protocol' recommended by the controversial sarah vaughter on his blog.
Take 400mg of minocycline, in a single dose until today, took two and a half weeks. The first days I thought I was going to die, my legs were paralyzed, I lost feeling in my hands etc ... but these last three days something impressive has happened ... I no longer have that feeling of clenching in my body that has been accompanying all these months ... I have sensitivity in the face ... I think I'm improving ... I'll continue in this dose plus rifampin as much as I can. I found something that works

It good you have found something that works for you and keep detoxing since it sounds like you were herxing.
Take care and I wish you the best of continued healing,Jo

Oriol - I’m glad you are noticing improvements but I am concerned about
that dosage.
The usual dose for Lyme is 100 mg twice daily.
Plus you are taking the 400 all at once - not divided doses?
Because of it’s good penetration of b/b barrier, Minocycline has a lot of listed side effects that involve the head/brain and the fact that you are taking this amount without a Dr overseeing it does concern me.
I take multiple abx so it’s not that I don’t support abx - but I’ve not heard of that amount - and all at one time.
Please be careful Oriol

Oriol, I am happy you found something that works!! But as Girlie said that is a high dosage.
Maybe just being consistent with a lower dosage will work? There will be ups and downs so just stick with it and dont change treatment as soon as you feel bad again.

That reminds me of those people who accidentally overdosed on Dapsone and got cured from Lyme.
It makes me wonder if for Lyme maybe even the higher dosages of antibiotics aren't high enough.
Although I do share Girlie's advice, please be careful.

I'd be very wary of Sarah Vaughter. I just looked at the site and her Lyme story. Her protocol looks to be one that she has tested on herself after years and years of unsuccessful treatment. And she is still not better.
She also seems rude to people with differing ideas than her own.
I hope you find what works.

not surprising given rifampin and minocycline are a very powerful combo to knock out not just bartonella but other pathogens. add in bactrim and do this trifecta over many months and i guarantee if you can get past the herxes from hell and such you'll get better.
can't say 100% since everyone is different but this 3 abx cocktail hits so many things its bound to being some relief.
also carol no offense but you haven't been at this for very long. i'm going on 3+ years and i've tried every abx in the book and most combos and have had too many 'i feel better must be permanent' moments only to get worse again. this has happened dozens of times so while i do hope and pray your gains are permanent you need to be mentally prepared that you aren't done yet.
