portable infared sauna success?

I purchased a portable infared sauna that zips uo and you sit in.
Today, I had it on 140 and didn't even have a good sweat after 20 minutes.
They say to go slow. Is this only for the expensive wood ones???

My brother uses a portable pop-up tent sauna as he is battling ALS. I would have two thoughts:
1) he had a similar experience in the beginning, we now pre-heat the sauna for 10-15 minutes before he gets in. Try that and see if you get a sauna sweat!
2) if you do that and still don't sweat after 20 minutes (and it feels hot inside) there may be a different problem - which I have no clue how to deduce but something along the lines of dehydration I would think.

He usually does it for 30-40 minutes at a time. But proceed with caution you don't want to over-do it. Probably better to go slow and steadily increase.

I have two saunas one and old infra red zip up one the other is an infra-red dome type sauna.
The protocol for me is the same for both. I let it heat up for about 15 minutes or maybe a bit longer and I stay in it until I feel sweat dripping. I make sure it is a heat setting I am comfortable in. Getting too hot is not healthy. In summer it can take only 20 minutes in winter it may take 40 minutes. Then I get in a cold shower and wash until the greasy feel is off my skin. I figure that is the goal to sweat out some toxins and then wash them off your skin.
I do it about 3 times a week. When you first start you will feel very tired afterwards. You need to work out your tolerance for heat and the settings and time. It will stir toxin up considerably. You may even feel quite dizzy and sick initially which means you are going beyond your body's tolerance. It goes away after a while, I think taking chlorella, binders and drinking lots of water at this time is important because you want to move those toxins still inside you out and not have them settle in new places.

i own a portable steam sauna that costed $80. it makes me sweat big time. i feel wonderful after it. it's not infrared though. i bought the cheapest one i found.

my sauna is a big hollow balloon with a water vaporizer attached. sauna is a bit of a glorified statement. when i think of sauna i see a small room furnished with wood and with wood benches, and a nice heater with rocks on which u can pour water to make steam ...

that's a sauna.

but if it makes u sweat... does not matter.

heres what you do.

make yourself a big glass of hot tea, then down it just before you start your sauna, make it hot as you can take it and drink it fast, then get in

you will sweat
