Chronic levels AST / ALT (liver enzymes)

Are chronic levels elevated AST / ALT typical for people with Lyme and or co-infections? Is there any co-infection that in particular causes this?

I had read somewhere many years ago that Bart can be responsible for elevated AST/ALT level. Let's see if I can track it down.

You of course know abx use will do this. I would imagine killer herbs will to.

There are also identifiable genes that can do this in the liver phase I and phase II pathway.

D-limonone is very specific to helping the liver and its methalation pathways.

Yep thanks, I haven't been on anything in about 3 years so I'm wondering if its from a co-infection

I had higher liver enzymes at one point. It was after several months of treating lyme only.

I took a 2 1/2 month break, treated bart with Rifampin + a second antibiotic .

They haven't been high again. (over 2 1/2 years now)

So only thing I can think of is the lyme treatment brought out the bart symptoms (including high liver enzymes)....treated bart...and they're gone.

I'm treating babesia now...and I think maybe a few bart symptoms might be coming back...so we'll see what my liver enzymes do.

Yes, ehrlichiosis makes high liver enzymes, and its seldom mentioned on this forum for some reason.

I can’t speak about herbals, but as far as Pharma goes, Ehrlichia (and other lesser talked about co’s) should be taken care of with the lyme/Bart treatment so an additional protocol isn’t needed. So it’s not generally discussed with llmd’s
