I'm also scared of damage being done, but more to my vasculature/arteries.
My last appointment left my head numb for a few hours, and me stuck on the couch in pain all night. I am supposed to get adjusted again today, but I really don't want to risk another night of so much pain.
that;s exactly why I stay away from the regular chiropractors.
There have been deaths (although rare) from Artery damage.
That won't happen with the UC chiro
Having a numb head after can't be good!
I agree, the numb head really worried me. How does a UC chiro differ in neck adjustments? From what I was just reading it seems to carry the same risks.
The Upper cervical chiropractic adjustments do not involve crunching, popping, twisting of the neck or back.
When I was younger (about
10) in gymnastics - I launched over a box horse (can’t remember what the apparatus is called now) and my hands slipped while I was upside down and my head smashed into it.
My mom took me to a chiro (traditional one) and he grabbed my head (I was laying on my back) and gave it
a quick forceful twist to the right. I heard it crunch and it hurt like heck.
It just didn’t feel right. I never went back to s chiro until I heard about
the one I see now.
It’s gentle and doesn’t hurt.
Just pressure behind me ear.
From my chiro website
“To receive the adjustment, the patient is placed on their side with their skull precisely balanced on the headpiece of the table. The doctor then contacts the topmost vertebra (the Atlas or C1) with the heel of their hand, aligns their body to the adjustment vector, and delivers a controlled, light and shallow downwards pressure. There is no twisting or cracking of the neck.”
