Hi everyone, I'm new here but I've been reading posts for several months.
I got a tick bite with symptoms following shortly afterward in Sept 2017. I went through a few rounds of antibiotics with no good results. I started a regimen of apple cider twice a day along with oregano oil and olive leaf with good results from Dec 2017-Feb. 2018.
I was getting better slowly but wanted a more potent option so I started Monolaurin and herxed badly at first and then felt better as I increased the dose slowly.
I feel great other than some occasional (possibly unrelated) tinnitus and minor fatigue. I felt as though the monolaurin was the doing really well for me until I found this research saying that it suppresses your immune system.

I'm somewhat worried that it has the same effect that steroids would have on a person with a serious infection by making you feel great due to the anti inflammatory effects but actually allowing the infection to spread.
I'm hoping that if it does suppress your immune system it wouldn't be in the same way a steroid does. I'm not sure if I'm reading the research in the link above correctly because it uses scientific terms I'm not familiar with.
I'm aware that there are research studies that prove it is a powerful substance but many of the stories and reviews I have found don't seem to point it being definitively effective as most people seem to relapse immediately after they stop it.
I'm still taking it along with oregano oil and olive leaf intermittently. Any thoughts you have are appreciated. Thanks.

Nevermind, apparently there is a protein in blood, albumin, that counteracts the effect monolaurin has on t-cells.
