I have been treating for Lyme since 5/16, IgM 23 +, history of PVC's for 8 months, severe neck and jaw pain, twitching and anxiety. EMG+-spinal accessory nerve damage, cervical facet disease severe.
Diid 15 months of antibiotics , now on herbs and definitely better but...in pain management as neck is horrific. THIS could be non Lyme related as I was a nurse an bodybuider for 26 years.

Recent Quest WB :

Igg +41 and 66

Than...for some odd reason..they did the WB agaon and this time it showed IgM 23 +. No Igg.

WTH? It was the same blood draw. So I'm soo confused

Lyme labs can be inconsistent.

Remember the testing for lyme is looking for antibodies to the disease, not the actual disease. So one day you can have antibodies showing and the next not.

Both the ELISA and Western Blot are indirect tests, since they measure an antibody’s response to the infection, not the infection itself. However, it can take weeks to generate enough antibodies to be detected by these tests. The same blood draw - so they retested the same sample?

That is odd! What was the reason for the retest?

Hi,

I, too, had similar bands....41, 66 and 58 iGg, and my PCP told me all of my tests were negative. I did not have Lyme Disease. When the idea of Lyme came up, I was sure that was my problem. Of course, my PCP sent me to a neurologist stating it was musculoskeletal. Neurologist and PCP have limited knowledge regarding Lyme, so both were leaning toward MS as my problem. I live and play in the woods of Maine. Lyme was more likely than MS...in my eyes.

After seeing a Naturopathic LLMD, a Lyme diagnosis was confirmed, yesterday. smile The test that confirmed Lyme was the C-6 Peptide. I'm still waiting for my DNAconnexion urine test to come back. Once that comes back, I'll know exactly what bacteria moved in. My LLMD has moved away from the IGeneX test and is using the DNAConnexions, now. It cost $500 compared to the IGeneX, which is about half of that.

You may be able to throw some of these test names out there and get some answers.

My LLMD does not use DNA connexions as it doesnt tell you if its a current infection. People have many bacteria but not all may be causing problems. This us where it gets soo confusing. Many people have Lyme bands and are not sick. This is where the "to treat or not treat" issue gets so blurry.
My cervical MRI is awful. I have structural issues for sure. I dont have fatigue or other muscular pains besides my neck and jaw. Again they tell me the jaw can be muscular from my crappy neck trying to stabilize. Hust very confusing.

Did you treat the coinfections or just Lyme?

If not - then maybe try a protocol for Bart or Babesia.

If the DNA of the bacteria is showing in your blood or urine - then I would treat based on symptoms.
Do you only have symptoms that correlate with spinal damage?
So you could do DNA connections and see what it shows you’ve been exposed to.

That's odd that your LLMD said that about DNA Connexions. That lab uses PCR analysis to look for bacterial DNA. If they find any, then that bacteria is certainly there, and if you are symptomatic then treatment is needed IMO.

Western blot looks for antibodies, which are produced by the immune system. DNA Connexions' PCR test doesn't require an immune response. The same arguments could easily be made about the western blot - that it doesn't differentiate between past/current infections in many cases.

I agree with what Girlie said, and definitely treat bartonella if you haven't already. You don't have to have ALL of the symptoms for any one of the infections for the infections to be active and contributing to the symptoms you do have.

Recommend you read Stephen Buhner's books on Lyme and coinfections if you haven't already. They are very informative.

I'll never understand the western blot , I take it in Feb and not one band is reactive. I take it a few months later and I got 41, 30 and 45 on IGG which is suppose to represent an old infection... lyme labs are odd and inconsistent

Well it is based on antibodies...and your body's immune system to mount a response.

The immune function can change...thus producing different results.

I treated for all coinfections except Borrelia miyamotoi. I am treating for that but its a fairly new infection..not in me but in general. All my symptoms seem to relate to spinal issues but who knows anymore. I dont rely on any lyme lab work at this point.
