Hey Everyone - just had a visit with my LLND and she mentioned how I should probably get tested for mold toxicity or mold in my house, which could be preventing me from getting better.

Has anyone done this? Any thoughts? My inflammation is out of control sad

I know a few members have been going through this recently -- I think Hoagie and ChickenArise. If you do a search (try Lyme mold), it should pull up those threads so you can start reading while waiting for people to see this one.

I recently realized that there was black mold in my master bathroom, and I started sleeping on the couch. I immediately started feeling better. Just got the bathroom and bedroom cleaned and I can walk in there without being hit by immediate brain fog now. about to start trying to sleep in there again.

Testing yourself for mycotoxins is with Realtime Labs. Medicaire and Tricare are the only insurances that cover the test at present.

Testing your environment - order a test kit from Mycometrics. Cost is $300, includes analysis and report. I recommend getting the ERMI. You can calculate the HERTSMI-2 yourself from the ERMI results.

When you order, read the info carefully and call them if you have questions. There are 2 methods/kits. One involves a vacuum cleaner, and one is a dust cloth.

If cost is an issue and you cannot do both, then the ERMI would be the most important, IMO. I feel like the HLA-DR genetic test is more valuable than the mycotoxin test from Realtime Labs. My insurance covered the genetic test. I had all 3 tests done.

Doctors want you to have all the tests, but they're not the ones paying for it.

I am in the midst of this nightmare. Don't order an air test. Very unreliable. According to my CIRS doctor, the HERTSMI-2 is more reliable than the ERMI because it only tests for certain toxic specific molds. The HERTSMI-2 tests for the big 5 toxic molds and is very accurate. And about half the price of the ERMI.

Also, see if your doctor can run labs for c4a, MSH, MMP-9, TGF Beta-1, VIP. These results as a whole can determine if you have a mold issue as well. And as WBF stated, get tested for the HLA gene.

Mold has turned out to be my primary issue. I'm currently looking for a rental while sleeping in a tent in my backyard. And I'm actually enjoying it... lol... the sleeping outside part.
