Hi guys
Good news I think.. After being on treatments for 9 months I went to see my LLMD yesterday for my 3 month check up and he was so happy with my progress that he has decided to gradually stop all treatments over the next month and see how I am feeling.
Im a little nervous about
a relapse to say the least, but at the same so so happy that I have come so far in a relatively little time compared to some of the stories I have heard.
Before I started treatment I was suffering major neurological problems and had to give up work. I couldnt even think let alone drive,my vision was really blurry, my memory was so bad I couldnt read because by the time I got to the end of a line I had forgotten the start of it.
Every joint in my body ached, I also heart palpitations/pain and even suffered a grand mal siezure.
The first 6 weeks of treatment with minocycline and plaquenil were pure hell, I spent a lot of time in the ER and honestly thought I was going to die.
Out of pure stubborness I stuck with the treatment and after 6 weeks I noticed I would get the odd hour of relief then this grew to a couple of hours at a time then a day then a week until I got to the point where i am now.
I have been feeling pretty much the same for the past few months, almost all my symptoms have gone. The only remaining symptoms I have is some dizzyness I get a head ache if I concentrate for too long and I have a little joint pain in my ankles.
My LLMD says the dizzyness and headache could be a side effect of the minocycline and this is why he want to take a break and as the plaquenil has such a long half life the joint pain may still go away in time.
I am very grateful to all the help I have recieved here over the past year and I know I am very lucky to have made such an improvement.. I guess I am just worried about
going backwards and looking for a little reassurance that this sounds right? as I have read that you should treat for 2 months after symptoms are gone.
What do you guys think? Is there any risk in taking a break if I have to start again?
Thanks
