It's part of the basic metabolic blood test panel, and is a measure of protein concentrations in the blood. The problem is that a low level of such a generic test can mean a bunch of different things, some serious and some not. Mine isn't TOO low, but I'm gonna get it followed up with more specific tests just to be sure. I've been having loose stool lately, probably from the antibiotics. I wonder if malabsorption of nutrients is the problem. Guess that's another question to ask the doctors. My LLMD told me he wasn't overly concerned about it, but he would be if it keeps dropping. In the meantime, I'm going to have more blood and urine tests done.
I think the urine test is to see if I'm urinating out the protein I'm supposed to have in my blood. If I am that'd mean my Kidneys aren't filtering the blood properly. In any case, whatever the problem is I hope it isn't serious. From what I can tell, elevated globulin is a more common problem.
