I'm so sorry that you have a virus and that you found yet another tick. So frustrating!!
We had a late-season flu in our house, and it was not good! However, it had been a long time since we had the flu or major illness in our household, so I consider us lucky because I felt we were long overdue! (I mean lucky in that they haven't been sick much with traditional viruses.)
I don't know why, but I rarely ever get the traditional flu (eg fever, body aches, chills, headache, sore throat, etc). However, my kids were unable to escape it this year.
Kid#1: After being very, very sick for several years from lyme/etc, he is now well for over a year. He was the first to get the flu, and he was only sick for 2 days. He bounced back quickly and was minimally sick (considering it was the flu).
Kid#2: He is my sickest kid in regards to lyme-related illness. And he was, by far, the sickest/longest of my kids with the flu. He missed over 1 1/2 weeks of school from it, and his virus just persisted. He had a really tough time breaking the fever. (He was negative for pneumonia - we checked!)
Kid#3: He is up/down with lyme-related illness. I don't believe he's fully well from lyme/etc. He was inbetween the two older kids in regards to his flu. He missed a week of school but wasn't as sick for as long as Kid#2 was. He was very sick from the flu this year.
Me: I didn't get the flu from them - despite taking care of them all. I don't know why, but I rarely ever get the flu. (I definitely get other viruses - especially stomach related ones - but rarely the traditional flu.)
FWIW - we choose to not do the flu vaccine given our medical/health issues.
We get the common cold from time to time. I can't say that I noticed my kids being sick "less" from viruses because they have lyme/etc. Since I believe they've had this since in utero (I believe I passed it on to them), they all had the typical childhood illnesses growing up. I will say that they seem to generally get less viruses the past few years, but I contribute it moreso to them getting older and all of the herbals, perhaps, that we've taken over these recent years.
OMG! Daisies1000...all of you have Lyme? Ugh! I'm glad your are doing well, for the most part.
Luckily, Tuesday was my worst day with this cold. Yesterday, I felt much better, and this morning even better. So, I'm on the mend.
Now, I'm trying to figure out my warm, red, somewhat itchy ear. I have an appointment with my PCP and Lyme Lit doc coming up. I was hoping that the cold is a sign that the Lyme is dying off, too.
Over five months (when my symptoms were the worst), my symptoms have tremendously decreased after three months of treatment. If I could get rid of the hip pain and the internal vibrations, I'd feel close to normal. Then, it would be time to rebuild the muscle tone I've lost due to the minimal exercise I get because of the limited flexibility of my hip. Any progress is good.
Thanks for your response.
