Lyme disease twice

I had acute chronic Lyme disease 12 years ago. I did the 30 day doxycycline. It didn’t work for me so they put in a pic line for 30 days which seemed to help. I still suffer the symptoms from that episode.
I was recently diagnosed with Lyme disease for the second time and am on doxycycline again for 30 days. I feel miserable and I seem to be getting worse. I have have a bad back and had 2 surgeries.
It is also making that pain worse. Where do I turn for help?? Is the second infection worse the second time.

I agree with Girlie. I would absolutely suggest looking for an LLMD. I'm guessing the doxy dose they put you on was 100 mg 2x daily? Just to put that in perspective they use a similar dose for acne.

The good news is there are a lot of treatment options out there.

I was cleared for the first Lyme disease 12 years ago with an Infectious Disease doctor.
This time is a new case of Lyme. I was bitten by a tick the second time. I am on doxi 100mg 2X daily.
When my meds are finished and if it is not cleared up I will see an Infectious Disease doctor, but in the mean time I’m unable to function!!

To help with the symptoms of die off , I suggest you employ some detox methods.

Make sure you are taking probiotics daily.

I'm chiming here again. I went the ID Dr. route, the best in my state. First time I ever got into an argument with a doctor. I get wanting to trust your doctors but #1 TRUST your body and what it is telling you. #2 CHECK your doctors, ask for facts ask for information, come with information. Some ID Drs. are coming around but the 100mg is 10 years ago and doesn't work. #3 GET a second opinion or be open minded. At the very least I would ask to switch to a stronger antibiotic like clarithromycin or azithromycin.

And yes, it is possible that some of the symptoms/surgeries were the result of lyme. Never a certainty but after I recovered from lyme that was only when I realized exactly HOW sick I had been and for so long.

Please know that everyone on here only wants the best for you and to give you their story and whatever information that will help you get back to health. Most of us have gone down the ID road only to waste money and time and end up going to an LLMD/ other practitioner.

The previous doctor specializes in Lyme disease. He tried different antibiotic be for putting in a pic line as a last result. My primary doctor ran all types of viral and bacterial tests along with manyyme tests to be sure this is not from the previous Lyme disease. My previous symptoms are something I have to live with. Some are lucky enough that they go away, some surfer minor problem. Unfortunately I’m not any of those luck one!!

But only 60 days of treatment...I'm just wondering how your Dr would know it isn't active infection?
Sometimes, it's just time.
I was on Bart treatment for more than a couple months before some symptoms resolved.

I'm not trying to be argumentative, but just not understanding how the doc would know this.

And lyme testing isn't reliable - that's why we can't test to find out if we still have it in our system.
we may not produce the antibodies even when we have it....and the PCR is a crap shoot.

Also in that short treatment time, the coinfections wouldn't have been treated.

Are you seeing the same Dr this time?
