I'm losing this battle with Lyme

I've been on short term disability for almost 2 months severe anxiety & depression about my future.
I have been diagnosed with a major cognitive impairment. Family history of dementia I know Lyme is the cause for me. I have been treating it on/off for 2 years. My pain is gone but I can't think fast enough to get things done in normal time. The neuropsyche affects can be overwhelming at times.

I am a first born and always thought of myself as the provider and caretaker of my children, grandchildren and my wife. I don't know if I should chance going back to work or take my chances with LTD from work.
My gut tells me this is going to take a long time to get better.

I have two positives from when I was diagnosed with Chronic Lyme and severe sleep apnea 2 years ago 1. my neuropathic pain is in remission and 2. I'm off cpap ( not sure if its from weight loss or Lyme treatment)

Waiting for repeat coinfection panel from Igenex, Apoe4 and HLA testing .

Anyone else here have such a fall from grace ???

I’m so sorry, Kct!!

I understand how you feel. Prior to Lyme I never got sick - I was a multitasker and managed the household as well as worked full time... and now? Well it’s 1:30 pm now and I’m still in my pj’s trying to decide if I should even bother getting dressed today.

I feel like I’m disappointing/letting down my husband who now has to not only work full time but come home to a sloth who may or may not have dinner ready.

Thank God there are good days when I can remind him of who he married.



You have some big improvements - the resolution of Neuro pain and sleep apnea are huge.

Pardon me for intruding, ( I can't help myself I'm can't stop being a diagnostician still want to help people )but did you rule out viruses, mold etc for the fatigue ???

I did not rule out viruses, or mold (no testing done)

Our house doesn't have mold though. Hubby has gone into the attic to check, as well as the crawl space.


I actually don't have fatigue. I'm a sloth because I'm demoralized that I haven't gotten rid of a few of my crappy symptoms...in over 3 1/2 years of treatment.

Question: What resolved your nerve pain? Was it a particular treatment?

I don't exactly know I think the LB Core from Green Dragon Botanicals over several months. Is my best guess, because when I came off treatment it started to return. My improved sleep apnea could have had a role.

I ask this because I was chatting with a secretary at an Environmental MD's office and she said he checked her titers and found the herpes viruses elevated and she took Valtrex for 6 months and then her fatigue had lifted she was thrilled.
