PICC fail for ozone auto-hemotherapy

Quite down hearted.
PICC line inserted today to continue ozone auto-hemotherapy. Prior to insertion I confirmed that the line would be open ended and non-valved to ensure gravity drainage of blood. A valved PICC was inserted. I cannot get blood unless I aspirated with a syringe. PICC is a BARD PowerPICC Solo.
Does anyone use a brand of PICC with clamps that is open ended? eyes
Or a solution if you have experienced this same issue?

After a conversation with a 28 yr infusion RN at a university hospital → conclusion =

Unable to do ozone auto-hemotherapy with ANY type of PICC (or tunneled CVAD - Central Venous Access Device) due to:

1. size of lumen (internal diameter of catheter is too small)
2. length of catheter (too long to facilitate volume of blood drain and transfusion in amount of time required)

The only sized catheter that might work is a dialysis catheter which is able to handle the volume of blood used in auto-hemotherapy. Unable to request this since I am not a dialysis patient and the procedure must be performed in an operating room.

The PICC was removed and I am back to peripheral IV's several times a week.

Even though you answered you own question I figured I'd chime in. I've done MAH ozone and I've been told you can not use a pick line.

I have been treating for Lyme, Co-infections, since 2013. Initially I was bedridden for 18 months in a dark, quiet room. I did have an amazing Western Blot - 8 out of 10 positive - which blew the Infectious Disease doc's mind. (He didn't think I had Lyme and only ran the test because I insisted.)
I have done MAH (ozone auto-hemotherapy) before from 2013-2015 three times a week. It kept me alive and relieved my intractable nerve pain for 6-8 hours post infusion. I have been walking again since 2015 and gaining strength. Cognitive function has improved - I can read and talk again. Treatment has included: initially IV Rocephin X 30 days, nutraceuticals, herbals, acupuncture with stim, Byron White Formulas, cold laser therapy for mitochondrial activation, Nutramedix formulas, as well as adrenal and thyroid support with herbals and prescriptions. Bioidentical hormone therapy due to wasting from weight loss during my illness, and below range results on DUTCH (urine metabolites). Also progressing in microbiome support.

I succumbed to illness again last September and have been slogging along. I am not as ill as I was in 2013, however, MAH was reestablished since I was bedridden again. MAH keeps me out of bed and out of pain. Recently diagnosed with Retro virus. Added that to my monthly LDI (Low Dose Immunotherapy) along with herbals to bring that down, as well as inflammation.
I'm always making progress. Not walking 4-8 miles again, YET ... but I will!

Sorry for your relapse - or was it a new infection?

Does this procedure help heal the nerves or is it only symptom relief?

You’ve had a very difficult time - I hope you get some relief and improvements soon.

Reactivation of Lyme and Co's. Happens whenever I am worn down.
MAH super oxygenates the blood and kills pathogens too. It's effect on pathogens is incremental as they are sneaky and hidden. The oxygen not only saturates the blood, it affects tissue also, which is a big plus. The immediate decrease in inflammation has many benefits for my nervous system.

Today was a very good day! It would have been wonderful if the PICC worked for me, but I am moving on. I will keep doing peripheral IV's until I don't need them, or until I run out of viable veins. Something new always comes up and moves me further along. Last year I was unstoppable! I had so much energy and felt like I was 80% of my old self. But 50% is still better than 15%. It's up and down days until the up days plateau out for a while and I am able to be more interactive in life again.
Progress is my mantra. ;)
