I was wondering if this particular problem was associated with Chronic Neuro Lyme. I experienced what I thought was a pinched nerve in my right arm last December. The pain started in my neck and progressively moved down my arm. It eventually left almost literally out of my fingertips. I had some weakness and the pain was mostly bearable. I am now experiencing severe pain in my left arm that started out the same way starting in my neck and moving down my arm. I am in tremendous pain at times and experiencing more profound weakness. Am I crazy or are PTS and Lyme related? Help.

No you are NOT crazy..

I don’t know about Parsonage Turner Syndrome but my symptoms started similar to what you described.

I fell asleep on the couch one evening after a busy work week and woke up with excruciating pain from the left side of my neck across my left shoulder blade and my left arm was limp.
Went to ER as the pain was the worst pain I had ever experienced.

For many weeks all I could do is lay down - standing and sitting made the pain around my left shoulder blade unbearable.

Then the pain slowly got better after a few months but I had serious muscle atrophy in the left scapula/arm/hand.

I also started to get other symptoms - trouble swallowing, weight loss, anxiety, depression, temperature dysregulation.....

14 months after the initial neck/left scapula/arm incident I was diagnosed with Lyme.

Lyme and coinfections can attack our nerves and cause radiculitis.

Have you been tested for Lyme?

Do you have any other symptoms?

I was diagnosed with Chronic Neuro. Lyme in March 2017. I have been having symptoms for years and was told it was all in my head. Well it was. I know I have bartonella. I can’t remember the other. I also have lesions on my brain that have been there since the major Neuro symptoms started 12/2013. The pain in my neck/shoulders/arms is fairly new. So I’m left wondering if this is a sign that things are worsening. I have seen a LLP, but could not afford more than two appointments, and could not afford the out of pocket meds.

Ok you have a Lyme diagnosis - and if you haven’t been treating consistently - yes it could be a worsening of your infections.

If you can’t afford a LLMD and antibiotics - you should consider doing an herbal protocol -you don’t want this to continue to get worse.
