WHY dont people know about Lyme?

Just in the mood for a rant....

So I was visiting my father in a hospital outside the Portland, Or area. After the nurse informed me theyd given him a course of I.V azith, Id said oh i just took that for a month, for Lyme disease. The Rn's response, "Oh you must be from the east coast then"? I said, "No Lyme is everywhere, & besides people travel all over"! After I told her that yes I HAVE traveled to the east coast four times since 2006, BUT I know I got the illness while vacationing in Mammoth Lakes area, Cali. She said, "Oh, you likely didnt get it in Cali, but one one of your east coast trips"!!!

Uhg, she refused to believe me Lyme and co-infections were and ARE global. She also said that one month of azithromycin was too long, and I said nope, not for the Lyme co-infection aka bartonella. She then preceeded to ask why i thot i had bart. I just told her I needed more time to educate her on M.S.I.D.'s!!!

Well she’d be really shocked to hear that there is Lyme disease up here in Western Canada...lol

Unfortunately, even in the East USA many are still oblivious to the truths of Lyme and co infections and taking precautions to to reduce the risks of being infected.

Many MD's and other practitioners are also way behind on how to treat Lyme and co , its just unbelievable to me.

I am convinced the healthcare community knows, how could they not. seeing countless people suffering, with no explanation - really?

it all crystallized for me on one of my countless trips to the ER. I went for unexplained jaw pain, muscle twitching, low body temp, flu like symptoms, bizzare rashes all over. i stated repeatedly i was bitten by tick, and was trying to get help, i suspected lyme or tick borne disease. they did their tests, all came back normal as usual...they sent me on way told me with diagnosed unexplained febrile illness, and told me to see my primary care

then one of the nurses, told me privately in the room. "you know you may have lyme", i said yes i know, i am trying to get help. she said, "they only treat with 2 weeks of doxy, my husband had it"

from that point on it become crystal clear, i had to get far away from this system and find another approach, an LLMD or something.

so they know, how can they not. i assume there are some oblivious to it, but most know from the countless people coming in with unexplained problems. only a complete idiot would not be able to put two and two together.

Same thing went on with AIDs in the beginning stages to get recognition, it was affecting the gay community the most, so that makes people care even less, I hate to say.

You watch Dallas Buyers Club with Matthew McConaughey or The Normal Heart with Mark Ruffalo, you'll get a good feel to what went on. There's some good AIDs documentaries out like Under Our Skin, do yourself a favor and give them a gander.

Problem with Lyme is, it's way bigger than AIDs. And it's getting worse, with no way of stopping it, nothing like a simple condom. It's so much more complex than any other disease!!!!

Even if they come out with a vaccine, how are you going to convince people to take that vaccine, when you still say there's no lyme in your state?

I really don't know how they're going to stop this, can it be stopped? Currently half the country is in denial about Climate Change, suggesting that carbon isn't affecting the planet, but yet there's a pile of garbage sitting in the ocean size of Texas, the oceans are acidifying, and the Great Barrier Reef is almost fully dead.

Each day I wake up hoping there's some progress made and there has been, but I'm still scared that the progress isn't being made quick enough!

Yep, even if you get down to the details about biofilms and persister cells, it's like you're speaking another language with them. Like the public has been dumbed down! Everyone should know why bacteria is become antibiotic resistant, majority of the public doesn't have a clue.

And when they do bring up Lyme on the TV, not once did I ever hear them talk about biofilms and persister cells, even the recent studies showing how the bacteria become persistent and chronic. How long treatment can be etc....

When the truth does come out, something like this could make people lose complete trust into the government. Just like this other topic that's starting to poke it's head out.

Once the truth comes out on some of the controversial topics, people are going to ask how could we ever trust the same people again. This is going to happen in our life time, so get ready, whether you like it or not. Stay strong!

I like to think that the humans are a very resilient species, I like to keep hope, as some how and some way we always figure something out. But right now, our government and many others need an overhaul, a revolution in order to change the corruption at hand. My father is 72 years old and he said he's never seen it this bad, in his life time!

Charlie55- its not the government that is withholding information like this from the public. Givernmemt has no obligation to oversee every medical illness because they are not versed in the area. They are politicians, not doctors. Lyme disease is JUST now getting public notoriety because so many people have it. And they really don't know much about it, its a growing field of interest that yout very own government is actually taking action to do studies. Its not like is been something they've been hiding from us. Even the medical community is just now becoming a little more literate in lyme because its becoming epidemic.

You do realize the CDC is part of the government don't you? The CDC is a faction of the government and for the most part, a lot of lyme patients think these IDSA Doctors just think for themselves and they are the major decision maker for Lyme... But I can assure you, there's officials above them they have to report to, informing the President and his cabinet, especially since something like an outbreak or epidemic threatens national security.

If you think that's the case, you're very very very misinformed. A lot of these Doctors, scientists, and politicians have known about Lyme for a long time. You just think that they don't know, because it isn't broadcasted much on the news. You have to do a lot more research on the web, see what Willy Burgdorfer has said about this disease through interviews. As well as a top microbiologist like Tom Grier or Dr. MacDonald, who have been in this lyme game for a very long time. Biofilms go way back, as Tom Grier mentioned in his interview on Coast to Coast AM, he said him and his colleagues joked that MS, meant "mass" or "more" spirochetes, aka multiple sclerosis. There's newspaper articles, going back to like the 70s where Dr. MacDonald discovered and talked about spirochetes forming biofilms.

If you don't realize this yet, the government and news doesn't always report the truth about topics due to possibly causing mass hysteria. This is how the "Fake news" topic started, you think they're actually giving you the truth about the actual unemployment rate? The WMDs over in Iraq? Or even deep details on what caused the 2008 recession? The government and media lies!

Our current President stressed on the Fake news topic, because he knew what's going on and knew this is what people wanted to hear. As our President has connections to people who own the media. There's fake news and propaganda on both political sides, this is how something like Climate Change gets misconstrued, even though it's the scientific consensus by the top scientists. Could the same thing be happening with Lyme, just like what's happened with Climate Change? Of course, but again, why is propaganda and the truth being misconstrued on Lyme?

People know there's something not quite right with this disease, more people are coming down with Lyme than West Nile, yet West Nile gets talked about more on the media than Lyme. We've heard of local politicians contracting it, as well as Presidents and celebrities. But why is that, these high profile people get better, receive the proper treatment, and get better. But yet the CDC, traditional Doctors, and the media still stay chronic lyme doesn't exist and longterm antibiotics don't work?

I can assure you that President Bush, Shania Twain, Ben Stiller, Richard Gere, Avril Lavigne, Ashley Olsen, Yolanda Foster, all received longterm antbiotic treatment, probably IV antibiotics too.

The government(CDC) is lieing, as well as the media... They have been now for decades, Lyme has been an epidemic since early 2000, especially in certain states. Going on two decades now! These bozos in charge have had a long time to do something about Lyme, but "have done nothing," just like Willy Burgdorfer said.

The only time I've seen the truth told about Lyme, was the case reported by a local news group in Utah, talking about lyme biofilms and Avril Lavigne.

Other than that, I never seen not one Doctor talk in depth about Chronic Lyme on CNN or Fox News. If they do, they downplay treatment, suggesting it's only a year or two, and that patients do get better. Never do they talk about the Embers study, which was surpressed. Biofilms or the link of Lyme to Morgellons, Alzheimers or Multiple Sclerosis.

When the truth does come out, you can expect a lot of mistrust in the government from the public! And it's not like that's already happening in society as we speak, lol

My eyes were opened at a very young age, but I think for a lot of people, they contract Lyme Disease and don't understand why lies are being told, they then have a mental breakdown. The mental brakedown part was purposely withheld from the Under Our Skin documentaries, I heard the Director Andy Abrahams Wilson say this on record.

The government and Doctors don't lie? Fast forward to 2018 and the opioid epidemic, where we know Doctors, scientists, and politicians have been lobbied and payed off on topics like cigarettes and sugar/fat.

I read a book called, 'The virus within'. Its written by 2 microbiologists who received government grants to research HIV and retroviruses. You can't turn a blind eye to our country's shady history with biowarfare! I think people look at the word "biowarfare" and look at it something like the word "conspiracy."

It's horrible to think scientists would create something like a biowarfare weapon or atomic bomb, and test these weapons, accidentally exposing innocent people to them. But that's exactly what has happened in history hasn't it? Governments look at it as collateral damage, sacrificing only a few thousands of people, to save a whole country. I've seen so many Lyme patients say I don't care, what does it help complaining about lyme being biowarfare. But again, remember history, so you can question your government, and understand why a lie could happen is very much relevant. I see this question asked all the time "WHY dont people know about Lyme?" A lot of people don't like hearing the answers they're told! And a lot of people just brush it off, I think it's proper to acknowledged our past so it doesn't happen again.
