IGENIX tests for co-infections

I was just taking a look at the price list for co-infections. How accurate are the tests as they seem quite expensive? I don't want to waste my money unless I am going to get accurate results. I'm also confused as to what tests I should get done. For example Babesia has two different panels.

Then you can order the tests individually as well. What tests do I really need to get done? My current symptoms are twitching/buzzing in my leg, and some tiredness. Pretty much all my other symptoms have subsided while taking doxy.

The confection testing is even more unreliable/inaccurate than the lyme testing.

That's why many of us don't bother, and why many LLMD's either treat based on symptoms, response to certain medications...or they treat all three B's.

I understand wanting to test as having positives does give us better direction sometimes.

I can't help you with which Babesia to do....I think I read that one of them is more prevalent in the East.

Hopefully someone will be on to post about which tests you should do.

Unfortunately, in Lyme there is no such thing as an accurate test result. You will find as you treat your infection that Lyme treatment is diagnosis based and that you will go through a lot of trial and error to find the abx, herbs and supplements that work best for you.

My llmd just did the individual IFA (igM, igG) for Bartonella, babesia, and Lyme (for Lyme the igG and igM are separate costs, the others packaged). Many consider igenix to be the gold standard/best option for testing. From my own experience, igenix is the only test to detect Bart in my system (this was in March after 6 months of treatment for Lyme and 2 months for babesia. After the test, I switched llmds (for a few reasons, one being that i was upset I wasn’t given the option for igenix testing from the outset), started a rifampin/Mino combo, and within 6-7 weeks reached 95% healing. I had the tests redone almost 2 weeks ago and am awaiting the results (takes 2-3 weeks usually to get results).

I second what others have said on here. Most LLMD's will treat or use antibiotics that cover multiple tick borne illnesses as long as you have the positive Lyme. Many will treat clinically anyway but the lyyme test is the one I would go for. I remember wanting to get the bartonella test to know for myself...but my llmd talked me out of it and said lets wait to see what the lyme test says. Glad I didn't end up getting it because lyme is pretty expensive to treat.
