Sores on back of throat and abdominal pain

17 year old daughter diagnosed with Lyme has sores on the back of her throat causing pain and complains of stomach hurting all around large intestine area from the left side,the top, and the right side of her abdomen. She doesn't want to eat because it causes her pain in her abdomen. Not sure if one has anything to do with the other but nothing I do gives her any relief. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you

Does she have a fever? How long has she had these symptoms?

I’m wondering about strep throat - it can cause symptoms beyond the throat/tonsil area.

She has had the sore throats for six weeks or so and abdominal pain has been going on for almost a week now. I don't think it's strep, it comes and goes. I was concerned that it may be ulcers in her throat, down her esophagus and effecting her large intestine.

Can she tolerate protein shakes? They contain vitamins and protein that are helpful for people that are unable to eat.

As for your suspicion of ulcers; has she been suffering from acid reflux? if so, short term PPIs or H2 blockers may help while the ulcers heal.

Has she seen a Gastroenterologist or ENT doctor? They may prescribe Clarithromycin, Amoxicillin and one of the above if they suspect H. Pylori or other infection in her GI tract.

Licorice is great for ulcers and it also coats and heals the esophagus and stomach lining.

Thank you for your response Healing98. Yes she can handle protein shakes and that is actually on my list and she has not seen a GI doctor yet that is actually my next step. Licorice is a wonderful tip, I will pick that up as well as protein shakes. Thank you for your advice.
