What's the best place to buy Buhner herbs?

Hey all! My doctor recommended a few different places that carry the Buhner herbs, but which do you think is the best? I'm taking a break from antibiotics for a while since they were causing me more problems than the Lyme with all the stomach cramping. So for now I'm going to use the Buhner herbs for a while, and if I need to get back on antibiotics down the line I will. I've made a lot of progress though, so maybe it won't be necessary! That being said, I feel like there are probably some set backs on the way, but I'm sure I'll get through them.

Congrats on your progress!!

I don't know of all the options, but I always bought mine from Green Dragon Botanicals. Seems reasonably priced and I think it is a supplier Buhner recommends.

Buhner has a list of recommended sources

A few options on his list:

Woodland Essence - tinctures

Sage Woman Herbs - tinctures

Green dragon Botanicals - capsules and tinctures

1st Chinese Herbs - bulk herbs


I personally like WE for tinctures but have also taken GDB capsules.

Have you decided what form ie tinctures .... capsules ... bulk herbs ..

My doctor recommended the tinctures to me, but I travel a lot for work so that may be somewhat inconvenient even with the reduced screening I have. What will I need to get to start the protocol? I have the books, but I haven't had time to read them yet. Things have been really busy between work, an upcoming vacation, physical therapy, and all of my doctor appointments.

Green dragon is wayyyyyy expensive and not even as good in my experience. Nuherbs is the best source of bulk knotweed I've come across. Woodland is great for tinctures as is Montana Farmacy.

My favorites have been japanese knotweed and CSA (cryptolepis, sida acuta, alchonea)

Hi Noah, I have traveled with tinctures in 1 or 2 ounce bottles in my carry-on luggage and I have never been questioned or stopped. I usually carry 5 or 6 of the bottles in a one gallon zip-lock bag. I also carry my many bottles of vitamins and supplements and have not had one issue. The bottles are thick and sturdy so breaking has not been an issue for me.

Oh yes, i buy my herbs in tincture form from Woodland Essence.

The tincures don't agree with my stomach. I use 1st chinese herbs for bulk powder. The Japanese knotweed mixed with a little water taste like dirt. Everyone goes on about how terrible andrographis is, but JK doesn't go down without pinching my nose!!!

Thanks everyone! I think I’ll go with the woodland essence tinctures. What are the ones I should buy first if I’m starting with the core protocol? I plan to add on the Bart protocol at some point, but I know you’re supposed to start slow and one at a time.

Noah2112, the Japanese knotweed has been my hardest to dose. The other herbs caused me no problems. The jk causes me to herx bad. That's where I would start, for me.

I purchased Cats Claw from GNC, I haven't found much about them though. Are they an acceptable place to buy from? They seemed to have good reviews.

According to a CBS article I read 3 yrs ago. GNC got into a little bit of trouble over their herbs not having herbs. I don't know if it's true. I'll try to post the article.

That is one reason why I stick to Buhner's recommended sources.

I ran out of my WE Hawthorn...so went to the local health food store. They sell a small company's herbal tinctures...they are located close to our city.
Thought they would be good quality.
I KNEW from the first dose that it was SH-T. The hawthorn has a distinct taste....kind of fruity...almost sweet taste.
This was bitter...very bitter.

I can't say much on Japanese Knotweed but the Cat's Claw I found to be the most potent was regular Vitamin Shoppe brand Cat's Claw believe it or not. I think I pay about 9 dollars for a bottle of 100 capsules.

No - not usually .I don’t feel improvement from an herb/supplement instantly after taking it and I take many so....I just purchase the ones that are known to be good companies and/or Buhner recommended companies.

The one time it was obvious though with the Hawthorne because of the distinct difference in taste.

Can any veteran Buhner followers give their opinion on this product?

I use this mixture for the JK, Cat's Claw, Hottunyia, and Sida Acuta. I buy all the other stuff in my protocol individually.

Guys I’ll look into alternatives to the GNC ones I ordered. I was trying to find options that shipped in a reasonable amount of time. I’ll start with what I ordered, but look into getting other ones soon.
