This is what I like about holistic and integrative medicine, and particularly for me, Chinese medicine. It looks at the whole body. If something's dysfunctional, it treats the whole condition. Doesn't always matter what the cause is. Obviously, the more you know, the better you can target, but if there's an infection, it treats your body to better eradicate ANY infection. If it's autoimmune, it treats your body to better handle it's own response. Liver problems, you strengthen the liver. Blood problems you strengthen the blood. And they can see everything that's connected, and look at your whole body for clues.
In some ways it's like just treating symptoms, but at the same time its treating them by letting your body do what it's SUPPOSED to do. No matter the label, it works to create an overall properly functioning body.
That is interesting. I have read before that the root of all illness is toxins. I'm not sure, but I do know that I wish I had more money to help myself go to holistic doctors. For now I'm just buying whatever supplements and hoping something I do works.
