Worm?! Yuck!! What would you do?

Thank goodness for the anonymity here. I am never inviting anyone I know to this forum, lol. (Kidding. Mostly.)

I think I just passed a worm, maybe a roundworm. I am familiar with mucous in stool and I'm pretty sure this is not that. I can describe it if anyone wants to help that much, lol. I fished it out and saved it -- yuck!! Where do you go for this? I called my LLMD to ask if they can order a test, but I think they will probably say to go to my PCP. I really don't want to go to my PCP for this. I plan to get in with a functional/integrative doctor, but I haven't done that yet because they are very expensive and they all have waits of several months. I would like to have this thing tested, but that probably isn't possible, right? What would you do now?

I don't know but I'll be watching for answers here. If I ever get serious about treating parasites, I want to know what to do when they come out. I would love to show my PCP. He'd probably freak out though.

I think even most doctors get squeamish when it comes to this stuff. I highly doubt PCP will do much, I've heard of stories like this and usually PCPs are overwhelmed, grossed out, and don't know what to suggest. Not saying it isn't worth a shot talking to them, but likely they will try and pass the buck along to someone else.

Are you currently on any anti-parasitic or anti-protozoal meds? may want to look into hitting those up if you aren't. Ivermectin, alinia, albendazole, some of those might be possible options... could push the llmd for some anti-parasitics if you wish to pursue that treatment angle.

That's what I'm going to be taking in the next couple weeks - and Dr J told me to pay attention to how I feel and what I see. shocked

Can ya'll post pictures of the worms if they're visible? I had something come out not too long ago that looked like it could be a worm, but I wasn't sure, and it was just one.

So ... I ended up going to my PCP (different doctor in the office) with the thing and ... are you ready? It was tissue paper. Now I am even more embarrassed. He writes your appointment notes at the end of the appointment, working out the wording out loud, which made it even more awful, lol. I can't go back to that doctor again, which is too bad, because he's one of the smartest ones in the office.

I'm not sure which is more embarrassing, childbirth or this kind of fun stuff. I think they're about even right now. Ah well, humility is good for people, and hopefully I gave you all a good laugh. :D

P.S. I thought of this too late, but if (when) I have any weird or gross issues in the future, I think I'll go to a walk-in place where I never have to see any of them again, lol.

How does he know it's tissue? Did you see him examine it? sorry - but just wondering if he took it seriously.... blush


Childbirth for me wasn't embarrassing as I had a C-section....I think I'd rather be embarrassed than have to go under the knife though...

I'm doing a parasite test through my naturopath. I've definitely seen worms, and I'm thinking of going to a GI doctor and getting on some kind of parasite treatment.
