Adderall with lyme

I was wondering how many people here have tried adderall for energy supplementation while on Lyme. I find myself unable to focus or read without it now. I'm well-aware of what it does to your adrenals, I'm just wondering if it will set you back in treatment any. Thanks for any help

Hi, I am trying to get a medicine like this RX to me as I have terrible fatigue and focus now, worse than ever. I'm also senior management (1.5 month since bite and 4 weeks of antibiotics completed just FYI). I can't risk my quality of life right now. Hoping we hear something. In the meantime I'm playing lightly w natural nootropics (Noopept to be specific) and having some success but very nervous about what I'm putting in my body.

Hi anidaise - welcome to our community.

I'm concerned you stopped antibiotic treatment too soon...since you stated having terrible fatigue and focus.

Was it a LLMD who treated you?

Anidaise, I think that anything that spikes your cortisol or uses your adrenal glands with chronic lyme is not a particularly good idea. Also if you still have Lyme-like symptoms I would consider going on a longer antibiotic route.

If it affects the adrenals...then I'm thinking it could impact your treatment results.

Does your LLMD support you taking the adderall?

adderall is crap - it will just turn your immune system down and that's all.

i think i tried ritalin but it gave me horrible anxiety and i still got brain fog - that was some time ago

It won't turn your immune system down, and it's not "crap". Neither of that is medically proven.

its proven - google adderall tnf alpha
and next google tnf alpha lyme

amphetamine salts like Adderall drop IL-6 and TNF-alpha, etc

body [up]regulates the levels of TNF-α as needed for sustainability against chronic infections

I know that stimulants generally lower the immune system as a function of the stimulant properties.
