UPDATE: Dropping Bactrim DS from protocol, what's the deal with that ABX?

Hello all.
I’m about to end my first cycle of antibiotics:
- plaquenile, doxy, clarythromixin, malarone, bactrim, nystatin

Before starting my new protocole, i must do a new bloodwork and male sure my ast/alt and creatinine went down. They were too high 2 weeks ago.

I was thinking of stopping bqcttim this week, before the bloodwork.
Is that a bad idea? I don’t want to provoke abx resistance or anything like that.

Note that in my next protocole, bactrim ds isn’t part of it anyways.
- plaquenil, monocycline, clarythromixin, alinia, rifampin, nystatin

When is your next protocol scheduled to start?


Are you thinking it's the bactrim that's causing the wonky liver function tests?

Removing one antibiotic won't cause antibiotic resistance. You're still on plaquenil, minocycline, biaxin, alinia and Rifampin.

BTW - are you taking all those meds on a daily basis? If so...WOW - I can see why you might want to drop the bactrim.

But, you should let your LLMD know.

Yes, I’m still taking all those med daily... I feel like plutonium man haha.

Heard Bactrim dS does increase toxicity considerably.. thought I’d slow down a bit by giving myself a week off one anbitiotics.
I’m starting my new protocole next monday (october 8)

That is a lot to take daily....how are you handling all that!


Should not increase your chances of resistance - by dropping one...no worries with that.

I've officially stopped Bactrim this morning, after my LLMD game me her blessing about it.

Interestingly enough, it's the way my LLMD replied that picked my curiosity.
here is an exact copy paste of the message discussion me and her had about stopping Bactrim DS for now:

Yes, I agree, do not take bactrim ever again.

No problem, I won’t.
Was there a new research on bactrim invalidating its usefulness?

LLMD:
No, bactrim is a miracle antibiotic for some, it is highly useful- it is just not for you.

I mean... "Never to do it again"... okay. I wonder where this is coming from.
I haven't had considerable improvement from my first round of ABX, and my liver and kidney are both high... but why blame Bactrim DS?
Anyways... mystery :P

I had no issues with Bactrim when I was on it.

We are all so different , its good your llmd understands what works for you .
