My gums have been awful since I started treating for Lyme. It was around that time my chiropractor suggested I start drinking high PH water. I drank Essentia (PH 9.0) almost exclusively. I didn't make the connection that the water might be causing my gums problems. I later switched to Smart Water (PH 6.5). My gums revolted! They were worse than ever. I still didn't make the connection until I started questioning the PH levels of bottled water. about 3 weeks ago, I switched to Volvic (PH 7.0).
They say ("they" being people who study this stuff) that you want a high PH level in water. That might be true for normal people, but with Lyme, it seems the lower, more neutral PH water has been good for me. My gums are actually less swollen, less red, and bleed less. Volvic is right on that sweet spot of a neutral PH. I'll be honest, I don't quite understand the science, but it's just an observation. My gums were so bad I feared I might start losing teeth! I also don't know if my current body PH is acidic or alkaline. I try to eat and drink lots of greens. So who knows. I guess I should buy a home test.
All that said, might be time to look at the PH of your water, if you haven't already and experiment with what works for you.
