Ive beat this subject to death prob more than anyone here and seen a couple of immune cell specialist for further immune cell testing, and was found to still be low even though I feel pretty good now (no more symptoms). I'm actually trying to improve my immune system with proper (tested for me) diet.
First, this is NOT a "positive or negative" test. Its a measured level of certain immune cells, mostly T cells and some B cells, which are both lymphocytes and part of the white blood cells.
Its NOT only specific to lyme either. Having this alone does not mean 100% lyme. Some people are born this way too, but prob would have had upper respiratory and ear infections as a child.
Since the top lyme gurus dont know everything that reacts to the cd-57 test its said to just be a "meter" during treatment. This is why its important to get the test before treatment, and then during.
One test alone is not sufficient to draw any conclusions, if it were and this test was more reliable, they'd say your level reflects someone with out Lyme disease, or cured. But you have symptoms.........symptoms of something.
Low CD 57 can mean lyme, autoimmune, any of the herpes viruses, more, however if it was down before lyme treatment and it then moved during/after treatment, that can be a sign of positive results. When used with other tests, it provides a more accurate "guess".
Many people even after lyme treatment, who now feel great still have low CD57. Maybe they did before lyme too? And maybe that part of the reason they developed lyme (low immune system) in the first place.
We obviously need better tick infection testing.
here was one of the better post on it last year :
