Hi
Im a 43 years old I have twin 6 year olds.
On September 28th I started having flu-like symptoms and really bad pain in my hands. After two ER visits and two visits to my primary care I had a positive IGM Lyme. I was started on doxycycline. I am on week 3 of Doxycycline. I have good days and bad days. ( nerve and joint pain, flu like symptoms, exhaustion) I am seeing a llmd tomorrow. Does anyone have any suggestions for my first visit? My IGG is only positive for 4 bands so my PCP is saying that I don't have Lyme even though he started prescribing for me with a positive IGM. Is there a chance I will get better on this 28 days of doxy
Hi Lorrissa - welcome!
I’m not sure why your PCP is discounting the IgM. (Especially since your symptoms started recently.
I doubt 28 days will be enough. You need to treat until symptom free plus 4-8 weeks longer.
I’m glad you have an appt with a LLMD - good for you!
Some questions to consider:
1) how does he determine what coinfections you need to be treated for.
2) Does he treat with more than one antibiotic at a time?
3) If you have questions about
the protocol of your reaction - how do you communicate with him? ie phone or email?
4)what is the cost of each appt and how long are they?
5) Do they give you a written summary of points discussed at the appt?
I think there is a list of suggested questions in the “New to Lyme “ thread - take a look.
If you have memory/cognitive issues consider bringing someone with you.
