I’m hoping that remediation is a possibility at these levels but it’s an old house with lath and plaster (!).
Has anyone successfully remediated?
I have not. Successful remediation for those with CIRS requires an extremely meticulous level of cleaning. Google CIRS remediation. You will find a condensed remediation plan. The problem comes in finding a contractor who a) can understand the plan and how to carry it out successfully and b) is actually willing to do it correctly without cutting corners.
I even consulted with one of the people who wrote this remediation plan and he did a virtual inspection of my house and was supposed to send me a remediation protocol specifically for my house. He never sent the protocol and was very unprofessional, IMO. He did do a protocol for another person in my town and advised her contractors throughout the process. From talking to her mother, I gather the remediation was successful, but it took several tries. Also from what I understood, her mold stemmed from the refrigerator ice maker line leaking into the floor.
My house has mold and humidity coming from a dirt crawlspace and the duct system which is in the crawlspace. Also have mold in the attic from bathroom vent not being properly vented out through the roof. It’s also an old house built in the 1950’s without much insulation in a very humid part of the country. Also a flat roof over part of the house with moisture intrusion.
I read that plaster walls are not as prone to mold, if they don’t have hair mixed in the plaster. Do you know where the moisture or leaking is located? Is it isolated or pretty much everywhere like my house?
