I know that the modern medical consensus is that douching is bad and upsets the normal bacterial balance in that area.
I had bacterial vaginosis twice. Both times were after using “natural” lye-based soaps. I figured out that those soaps are probably not pH neutral, meaning they could upset the bacterial balance.
The fact that your GYN said all that is “normal for you” sounds like typical idiot doctor ideas to me. If you went to a holistic type GYN, I’m pretty sure they’d have a different opinion. I’d get an opinion from another GYN if I were you.
I had lifelong period issues, too, that I was made to believe were “normal,” because my mother had the same issues. I had bad cramps, aching from the waist down, leg weakness, lots of clotting, sometimes nausea and feeling almost faint. When I was younger, I would have to sit out during gym class and sometimes miss school or work because of it. I would have heavy fatigue and sometimes low-grade fevers. Also had major mood issues, breast pain, bloating, and OCD the week before my period.
I was almost 30 years old before I learned that all women did not have cramps, mood swings, etc. Now, I believe some of my PMS symptoms were probably bartonella flares.
Here’s a great source of information I found on menstrual issues. You may find some helpful articles here.
