Hey all - hoping someone can shed some light on this...

Got my CBC and other stuff done and have some confusing results...

First off

WBC - 7.50 - Normal
RBC - 5.63 - Normal

but my

UREA NITROGEN (BUN) - 27 - High (Normal Range 7-25)
Creatinine 1.03 Normal
Bun/Creatinine Ratio - 26 - High (Normal Range 6-22)

Ferritin - 403 - High (Normal Range 20-345) - Should I be concerned?
B12 - 1338 - HIGH (Normal Range 200-1100) - Should I be concerned?

Liver / Kidney Function Completely Normal Ranges

AST - 24 - Normal
ALT - 31 - Normal


Lyme Test

Reacted to IGG Bands - 39/41/66
Reacted to IGM Bands - 23


Everything else was normal.

Any ideas what could be going on? Doctor didn't call me and tell me anything about the blood work, which I'm guessing means - everything is fine.

PS I'm supposedly cured of Lyme (which I'm not so sure).

Are you supplementing B-12? You may want to check all your vitamins, supplements, smoothies, juices, etc. So many things are fortified these days we don’t always realize we’re taking vitamins.

Cured of Lyme? Do you no longer have any symptoms? There is no test to confirm “cured.” Symptoms, in most cases, means infection - Lyme and/or co’s.

So for the past 4 months I've ran a herbal protocol from my LLND. They tested me back in July. Confirmed Lyme - and then tested 4 more times, last test showed no more Lyme.

Granted I realize - this is something that tends to hide and hang on for all it's got.

Most symptoms are gone from what I started with (Fatigue, dizziness, stiff neck, ache, sick feeling, joint pain, stomach issues, constipation, facial flushing / hot skin (no fever) and so on... )

Only thing that's still around is sometimes my hot skin / facial flushing (now and again) constipation, and I feel bloated at times.

It seems a few of my herbals have B12 daily amount of up to 100% (total) ...

When you say the LLND tested you, was it some type of energetic testing? My personal impression on that is that if the practitioner is very good, it can be helpful in helping people figure out what is their main issues, but that it is just a tool. I wouldn’t be convinced that Lyme was completely gone if someone told me that based on energetic testing, or any other current means of testing, for that matter.

Did they tell you that you have any coinfections?

BTW, I had the hot skin/facial flushing, too. I may have already mentioned that in one of your previous posts. It is very rare that I hear any mention of that symptom. It was my worst symptom for years.

Yeah so this blood test was done by my GP. My LLND tests through saliva and urine.

And yeah hot skin / facial flushing sucks. Makes you want to crawl out of your clothes let alone your skin.

Umm I also had mycoplasma. Not showing up anymore.

What about bartonella, babesia, ehrlichia/anaplasma?

I have never been sure what infection was responsible for the red, burning face. Mine went away before I knew I had Lyme.

Looks like your kidneys are suffering some. You said they're in normal range...what tests?

The BUN and Creatinine is kidney function tests. You need to look into that. You should get your GfR done (kidney function .

I wouldn't be too worried about b12 - especially if you are supplementing.

But high ferritin isn't good. Are you taking an iron supplement? I would follow up with that.
My BIL had high ferritin and he had to keep monitoring it for a few years.

My gFR is 94. Completely normal.

No iron supplements but I am eating a weight gainer shake that is mostly grassfed meat - 1300 calories 255 carbs and 60 protein ... I do one a day.

No iron in the shake ingredients? I would retest that. High iron isn't good.

Interesting your gfr is good...but Creatinine and Bun isn't. maybe retest them? When do you go back to your Dr.?

So my normal meals consist of high protein (chicken red meat) / and greens ... Then protein shakes through out the day.

My wife, who's a nurse, thinks that's why my ferritin is on the higher side. It's usually in the 300s normally.

The high bun and ratio they said was due to dehydration, they believe.

Well that can be tested....make sure you drink a lot the day/night before your next test...and hopefully they will be in range.

Hey girlie,

Thanks for your responses. I don't have a scheduled time yet with the Dr, they don't seem to have any concerns about the blood work.

I am going to see a gastro guy on Wednesday and possibly getting a colonoscopy soon.

It's frustrating because my GP doesn't seem to think anything is wrong.

Yeah. The systemic dysfunction caused by Lyme/co is rarely corroborated by any conventional medical testing no matter how severe the symptoms feel to you. A Functional MD is the best person to test for and diagnose any dysfunction you’re experiencing. They know more about testing and how to properly interpret test results.

It is good to eliminate the conventionally diagnosed stuff, though, like heart disease, cancer, stuff like that.
