Hi friends.

I've been off for a long time because i'm dealing with severe symptoms pf fq toxicity like you now overlaped with lyme and Bart.

I react very badlly to any abx that i took with moxifloxacin... So i suspect that there is an inmune response that mistake some drugs with fluoroquinolones, if you took it together. Sorry if anyone was worried about me sad but i'm alive for that moment.

I'll take suprax (cefixime) at 600 mg daily and rifapentine (not rifampin, and not rifabutin), maybe i'll add something else like erithromycin later. I took clarithromycin, and minocycline with moxifloxacin, so i tried thats again and my body exploded (that's not a herx, i know, because i experienced the same symptoms when i took the first moxi pill, achilles tendon pain etc... with only 250mg of clari.)

I'm concerned about one thing, i took amoxi and days after i had small urticaria in my hand, but subside in 10 minutes... two days ago i tried cefuroxime and some seconds later i saw a small urticaria in the same place of my hand.... and subside in 40 minutes.... now, i'm in agony to take cefixime because of anapylactic reaction.

What do you think guys?

Well, I learned something. I'm not familiar with the Rifapentine - but I see it's in the same class as Rifabutin and Rifampin (Rifamycins)
I'm curious - what led to Rifapentine instead of Rifabutin?

So clarithromycin and mino are out? That gives you less options down the road.
You also tried Azithromycin,right?

One thing is clear... if i don't take any abx, i will die... i tried buhner and it did nothing... even i drink one bottle of japanese knotweed in only 3 days and it has no effect... only stomach pain that was a side effect of enormous quantity of it. I took two houttuynia bottle per week and it did nothing to my bartonella... so i need abx... but i have to calculate it ver y well because i have my inmune system in a constant fire...

Are you sure it's a rash from the meds?


I tend to get spots/skin things which aren't always a rash - ie medication side effect/allergy.
I think sometimes it's the infections causing it.

Rifapentine can be dosed twice weekly, so you can have less liver problems.

I'm not sure, and my father had whole body urticaria after 20 days of doxycycline, but it subside in 2 hours... eveb having high blood levels of doxy. I think it was a herx skin reaction.

I haven't heard of azithro causing frequent urination....did you have that as a symptom already...and the azithro is just exacerbating it?

How come only twice weekly dosing of Rifapentine? Does it have a really long half-life?

I had it after fq toxicity on azitro and clari... i suspect it's the cause.

Yes, much longer than rifampin but it stay a long time in tissues than mycobutin and rifampin.

In theory today but i couldn't because i was near hospital in case that i had a severe reaction to cefixime but finally my fears won... At past i was able to take any medicine without fear and now i have some phobia after quinolone... because i take the abx and inmediatelly i'm thinking about steve jhonson syndrome, necrolisis toxic... dress syndrome, anaphylaxis, erithema multiforme...

how did you ever make out with the Oregano Oil? did that contribute to your immune response/reaction? I did well with it, think it was a favorable addition to my antibiotic protocol. take 4 per day (2 in the morning and 2 with dinner.)

I've discovered that delayed fql reaction has nothing to do with magnesium deficiency (but of course if you're deficient at start, have a higher risk of si de effects), not DNA damage not mitochondria disfunction... It's like an hipersensitivity reaction... because if not what's the reason of having the same symptoms of moxifloxacin every time i take mino and biaxin (that i took at the same time), but not with other antimicrobials.... It's an inmune response.

It has two factors; Direct damage from fq... and a delayed inmune reaction.. People that took the higher dose have poor outcomes. If you mix it with lyme and bart...

Are you positive it's not a herx...rather than floxing?

Antihistamine combos seem to help quite a few patients (helps me). My mom takes ketotifen and it has helped her a lot. I think a good portion of the more severely ill patients who have trouble tolerating antimicrobials have some degree of MCAS/immune hypersensitivity going on. I think for many it is hypersensitivity to the toxin die-off.

Yes Girlies, it's not a herx because i never had tendon problems before moxifloxacin or sleep issues... And after only one two pills it has become chronic.
