That's a good question here about
tests: (Long Post alert
)*
I see some tests that are medical acronyms that other people have had done and I wish I had a bankroll to do the works... (is that medical test envy? well)
Anyway, here are the tests that I can remember: see my signature, I obtained a hard-won IGenex requisition paid out of pocket, insurance did NOT cover it, needed help from a non-profit (Rotary in California) that helps us po folks out. That was 300 or so dollars right there and I had to wait for a check for awhile, but they came through! So thankful!!!
about
IGenex, I think there's a large menu of tests that I would need to isolate what bugs are what (Tularemia for instance, not tested yet but suspect I have it, as well as a strain of Bart and/or Babs n Co that isn't on panels yet, might have some exotic bugs as I was pretty adventurous back in the day, and by adventurous I mean mt biking, camping a lot.)
Anyhow...despite my nerfed up health care (lol) I was able to get some hard-won requisitions...
Through an Infectious Disease group of doctors I had a number of tests done, but I suspect they were low sensitivity or not the most advanced type of tests, much like the virtually throwaway questionably-accurate or useful tests from Quest Diagnostics. A few different ones, I wanna say Erlichiosis, Coxsackie virus and a few others I can't remember, a couple of those turned up negative.
But what did come up positive was IG (g) levels positive for CMV (Cytomegalovirus) which was weird, symptoms are low grade fever and fatigue, which I get sometimes, most people carry the CMV but are asymptomatic.
Then somehow (maybe from recent vaccine??) I tested positive for Hepatitis A (!!) which through me for a loop.
I also did a CD57 test which was moderately low range at the time (I think...).
There are a few tests that I wish I could go pay cash for like a boss (totally broke, in debt so I can't): the blood flow brain test (cant remember what it's called) and that piss test (sry for my language lol) that Dr so-and-so does in Washington State that forces (via electric or somethn) the (spiro)'chetes into kidneys where they scramble and end up in fresh urine sample(s). I also think dark field microscopy is underutilized. I would also consider Stonybrook, Armin Labs and various University Studies if there are any going on...(I heard of one but I would have had to travel to it, which I was unable)
Sry my Spoonies, I've been up all night trying to catch up on work!
I bet some of you have a very long list of tests, as I read some threads.
Oh yeah I had a skin growth biopsied, luckily is not malignant (yet!) Had a cardiac stress test, which was oddly normal, except for a mild prolapse in one of my valves.. (!)
Also, 2 sleep studies (didnt get through the first because of a panic attack), turns out I have moderate to severe sleep apnea which has me on a breathing machine at night (and I feel sad about
it but it usually gives me about
50%-70% energy I used to have for the day)
And blood lipid panels which show high cholesterol, also have high blood pressure, not sure if those are lyme-related but I think HBP is lyme-related as it is very POTS-like.
That's all I got for now.
And however nerfed up my health care is right now, I'm very very thankful and tremendously grateful to be getting any kind of care. So if any of you are listening, I love you.
