SunflowerLecithin - can that give you herx?

Last week I started sunflowerlecithin (contains phosphatidylcholin) due to elevated cholesterol numbers. After some days I got really bad, very restless, pain in liver area, crawling sensation under the skin, emotional.... and it got better after stopping lecithin. Can sunflowerlecithin give you herx and why? What effect does it have that can give you herx?

My doc Rx soy lecithin for phosphatidyl choline. I haven’t opened the jar yet. Phosphatidyl choline is supposed to help your body come back online and can increase detoxing from my understanding. That could cause a herx if your body starts to function more normally and catch up to all the mess that’s there to clean up.

Thank you for your answer! I didn't know that lecithin supported detox. Then I guess that is what made me feel bad. 🌸

Lecithin is used by many to repair the nervous system including the myelin sheath. It's possible you are disrupting whatever is going on with your nervous system (in a good way) but its having impact as evidenced by your symptoms.

Try lowering the dose and titrating up slowly. With infections like we have our bodies don't necessarily react the way a normal person's would. For example my vision got all whacked out from taking Lion's Mane which is nothing more than an edible mushroom.

For us lymies we have to go low and slow for reasons just like this.

Sunflower lecithin increases my neuropathy, but a more expensive form derived from soy does not. I have no idea what the explanation might be.

@Rikky1: Then it sound like lecithin is a good thing in several ways, I didn't know that. I'll try to lower the dose. Thank you!

I was once taking Phosphatidyl choline and IP-6 at the same time and I don't know which one did it but I had a terrible head herx that lasted 2 weeks. It literally felt like my head was going to explode. lol. Heck I was crying cause the head pains were so bad.

So yeah in my experience there's a good chance it can definitely cause a herx.

I stopped taking it and the herx went away in two weeks.

It sound like a terribly reaction and strange that it lasted as long as two weeks... I feel I have to be careful if testing again and take a low startdose. Thank you for your answers 🌸.
