Hi guys I’m a little concerned. I’m currently almost six months into antibiotic treatment. At first my doctor told me I’d only be treating for six months. I’m been doing ok but not great by any standards. So she added in Diflucan. I took my first two doses of the Diflucan on Saturday and Sunday and felt decent. But all of a sudden lyesterdat I began having horrible pain in my arm, hand and shoulder. Is this a herx from the Diflucan that I took a few days ago? I’m pretty upset since I haven’t had pain this bad since I started treatment almost six months ago. The on good thing is like to mention is even though the pain is bad it’s definitely not as servere as it was before I started treating, is this progress? The only other things that have changed lately are I started taking Transfer Factor Multi Immune on an empty stomach instead of with meals. I’ve also stopped taking Super Milk Thistle recently because of its effect on estrogen. One last aspect is that there is a full moon going on as well as some funky stuff happening with mercury which some say makes Lyme flare. I wish I knew what was going on. Here I thought I’d be off all my meds by next month but it really doesn’t look like I will be. Is less servere pain worth celebrating? Or should I be concerned that I’m still having issues? For a few months I was doing really well. I’ve been great with detoxing and have been getting plenty of sleep. Suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys

Diflucan is to kill yeast/Candida. Yeast and parasites can both cause joint pain.

I have never taken Diflucan, but I had similar issues with other things, especially a week or two prior to major gut expulsions of ropeworm and possibly Candida. I had some of the worst joint pain and even stabbing bone pain in my arm and wrist just before one of the expulsions.

Thank you WalkingByFaith. I don’t have any issues with Candida so I’m guessing she put me on it to target the Lyme?

No, she wouldn't put you on Diflucan for lyme. When you've been on antibiotics, the good bacteria is killed along with the bad bacteria. This leaves you susceptible for Candida to proliferate.

You may not have any known issues of Candida...but anyone on antibiotics for a length of time should be on Diflucan.

Ohh ok I didn’t know this! Too bad I was really hoping to hit the Lyme more. I’ve been seeing some articles like this...

“Eleven patients with neuro-borreliosis had been treated with 200 mg fluconazole daily for 25 days after an unsuccessful therapy with antibiotics. At the end of treatment eight patients had no borreliosis symptoms and remained free of relapse in a follow-up examination one year later. In the remaining four patients, symptoms were considerably improved. “

8 had no symptoms; remaining 4 symptoms were improved.

8+4 = 12

Where did the extra patient come from? Lol

Or am I missing something?

I doubt she prescribed diflucan for treating lyme - I guess it’s possible - you could ask her - if it is for Candida prevention.

Re: the study - maybe some of the patients symptoms were candida -not enough information.
On my current protocol I don’t feel good while I’m treating - it takes a couple weeks for me to recover before I start to feel better.
Maybe that’s what the patients in the study experienced. Their symptoms went away a few weeks after finishing the antibiotics and coincidentally were taking diflucan during those weeks.

There’s totally a random patient lol. I’ll ask her about the Diflucan when I see her again in April but I’m guessing it is for Candida prevention like you said. That’s one of the only things I don’t like about my LLMD, she never explains what the products are that she gives me to take. I guess I just got a little excited and even a bit worried when Iherxed a few days ago because I haven’t really herxed much at all during my treatment.
