Hello, I was bitten by a dog today and went to the DR.s. It did puncture my skin and was prescibed ABX. Amoxicillin and Augmenten, I had nuero symptoms for two years and suspect lyme and Bart. I have not gone two a LLMD but have been on the buhner protocol. Im supposed to take the abx 2times a day for the next ten days.

I know this is not enough for lyme treatment. Will it have any effect on lyme or co's? I also do not want to get sick from the dog bite. Weighing my options

You’re on both amoxy and augmentin? Augmentin is amoxy with Clavunate acid (sp ) so you’re doubling up on the amoxy.

Yes it could have some effect on lyme. But you’re prob on a lower dose than what is typically used for lyme.
Amoxy was the first antibiotic my LLND put me on after I was diagnosed.
I took 1000 mg 3x day...with probenecid. (Amoxy has a very short half life of about 1 hour and probenecid raises that)

I got bartonella and it was completely resistant to amoxicillin. Antibiotic resistance is especially a problem with domestic animals that may have been on antibiotics already.

Amoxicillin will affect Borrelia somewhat, but won't completely get rid of it. Amoxicillin inhibits bacterial cell wall formation, but the dormant form of borrelia burgdorferi has no cell wall and is unaffected by amoxicillin. Amoxicilin will affect the active spirochetes, so it can temporarily relieve symptoms of Lyme disease, but it will come back when you stop the amoxicillin.

Did they check the dog for rabies?
