I've been reading that probiotics actually decrease gut bacteria diversity and read a bit about sporebiotics so I decided to get some. They haven't arrived yet but they seem to get almost universally 5 star reviews so I'm very excited to try and report back. Anyone heard of/tried them?

I've heard of them, but only recently considered trying them. Of course, when I went to the website to check the price, I found they were out-of-stock. Just my luck. When my ship comes in, I'll be at the airport.

I'm not sure of what other brands there are, though. Would you mind sharing the one you ordered? I hope you have great success with it.

I got one from Mercola's website I think. It was 30 bucks and free shipping. Popped up on Google as the first one I think when I searched sporebiotics.

That seems like a reasonable price and free shipping is always nice. I ended up buying a 30-day supply of a "regular" 50 billion CFU probiotic. Hopefully, once I finish it, the sporebiotic I was investigating will be back in stock.

Have you ever seen the site https://fixyourgut.com? I happened upon it, sometime last year, when I was investigating something gut-/probiotic-related. You may find it interesting, if you've not already seen it.

Speaking of sporebiotics, I just found one for $189.97 for a 30-day supply. For that price, it should have a money-back guarantee.

Oh my goodness. It's nice we have this forum so we can separate the real stuff from the scams. How ridiculous. I thought the $90 next day shipping price was a little much but $200 for pills, they better contain gold.

I might have come across some articles on there but I don't think I've explored the website. I'm gonna take a look now, thanks Dude

I've tried the Thrive. It made me very anxious coupled with heart palps. I called the company and they said they only had one other complaint that it gave them anxiety. On the bright side it must have really been doing something but it was obviously not for me.

The above site I mentioned does not seem to think highly of Kiran Krishnan -- the MegaSporeBiotic formulator -- or his other products.

It was the MegaSporeBiotic product, but I now see that price was for THREE bottles:

Originally, I checked the manufacturer's website, but there was no price listed. So, I went to Google and the above site was the first one I found. I scanned the page and saw the "Quantity" was listed as "1." But, just above that, I now see there's a drop-down box that reads "Mega Sporebiotic - Three Bottles."

Obviously, that was a major oversight on my part. Checking Google Shopping, I see a single bottle is around $55.00. I'm going to attribute my oversight to the time of night/morning and being tired.

Thanks for catching the error and raising the question.

Oh gotcha! No worries. There are some probiotics that are outrageously expensive, so I was just curious. I have used megaspore once and knew it was reasonably priced. Dr. J's PA has me take Pure Encapsulations P50 B and that is pricey! about 67$ for 30 days.

Yeah, that is pretty pricey. If it works, then it's worth it. Unfortunately, I can't say that I've noticed much difference with the various supplements -- including probiotics -- over the years. I guess it's like an insurance policy. Maybe Aajonus Vonderplanitz wasn't crazy, after all. Maybe he was a visionary.

My doctor put me on the Megaspore probiotics. I was on VSL #3 before that (for a couple of months) and I forget what before that. Before that, I alternated between 2 expensive store bought brands.

I cannot confirm or deny any of the manufacturer claims. What I can say is that Megaspore is the ONLY probiotic that has ever had any noticeable effect on me at all. When I first started it, I would have a little bit of intestinal pain and pass gas. The intestinal pain felt like bacteria dying - like when taking abx on an empty stomach and you get stomach pain because it’s killing your gut flora - but milder pain. The pain and gas only happened in the beginning and then stopped probably within a week.

I can’t say it healed my gut or cured my IBS-C or anything like that, but I feel good about taking it and know it at least did something.

I had one Naturopathic Doctor suggest that I double-up on VSL#3 for an initial loading period and then cut back to a single dose. Easy for him to say, of course, as he doesn't have to pay for it. He doesn't sell probiotics, so I like that he has no conflict of interest in his recommendation.

I’m not sure offhand. I do remember I was given 2 different VSL’s. One was twice the dose of the other - 900 I think. I was supposed to take the lesser one 2 days a week and the 900 once a week, as well as I remember. Kind of strange dosing. It did nothing. I think VSL got sued and may have been discontinued right around the time I switched to Megaspore.

WalkingByFaith, I'm glad to hear you've had good results! I think I have IBS-C too, I've been reading the reviews almost all of which are 5 stars and I'm trying to not get my hopes up but geez it would be awesome if it were a cure! Or at least a treatment. Right now my stomach bloats out 2 inches at the waist by evening. So it looks like I'm 5-6 months pregnant on the bottom.

I just got a bottle of the Mercola stuff at Vitamin Shoppe today. There was a misunderstanding online so I ended up getting one in the mail too. So I hope this stuff works. Just started this afternoon. So far I'm still bloated/constipated but it's probably a little too early to tell lol.

I have no idea if the probiotics I take are doing their job.

I take a few different types and change it up from day to day.

I’m not constipated nor do I have diarrhea.. no bloating ...

I don’t know ... “shrug”

The only things that I have had any real breakthrough with in regards to the constipation were anti-fungals/ anti-parasitics - Candicid Forte first followed by olive leaf extract. Also Mimosa pudica. Candicid forte was the most effective but the effects didn’t last.

I have expelled a lot of ropeworm. I probably have other parasites but so far they are unidentified

I had the pregnant look the night before the expulsions I had..

Oh ok cool I'll write those down. I did mimosa pudica for ten days during the full moon cycle along with Albenza. I feel like it gave me insomnia a little worse than usual which would mean activity but I didn't see any evidence of bugs and symptoms remained the same. But I'll write those down. I haven't heard of Candicid before, only Candibactin. Hmm, I wonder if sporebiotics work on parasites too. Probably not.

A little update since starting yesterday...I'm not sure if I'm having a detox reaction but I did NOT sleep last night. I fell asleep after basically doubling all 3 things I take for sleep. And then I had to change beds too. Still majorly bloated though.

If you’re not already taking olive leaf extract, get a bottle and take 2-3 capsules. The first time I took it, I took 3 capsules at once. The next day I had a herx headache and blowouts. It should clean you out some. If not, try an enema.

Wow. Alright I'll make a note of that. I've been doing the coffee enemas but still seem to be backed up where the enema doesn't reach. The lymph massage therapist said I have huge blocks in there... I hope I don't herx so much I get insomnia again.

It definitely did make me herx that first time with 3 capsules. After I got over the herx, I started using it at 1 capsule twice a day and no herx with that. I do think taking 3 capsules should clean you out a bit. Then you can start over lower whenever you want. Hope it helps you.
