Hey Daisy. I took an abx break from mid-Dec to mid-May when my nervous system issues started to resurface in a more debilitating way. I've been taking gabapentin and trileptal 3x a day to calm them down but it doesn't stop the symptoms entirely.
Seems no matter what I do/don't do my nervous system is out of whack. It's with me 24x7 and flares randomly throughout the day. I've pretty much tried everything and nothing will heal these issues. Not sure what else to do yet I can't live with this on a day to day basis. It'll be 5 years in October dealing with this garbage.
Wife is having similar issues she's exhausting all day long and has to take 2 naps a day. No matter what she tries nothing helps the fatigue. She's given up on antibiotics working with Dr. J for 2 years as they only make her feel worse and do nothing for this symptom which is the major one.
She's working with a modern Chinese herbal medicine/accupuncture place and so far the only thing that's done is lighten my wallet in a big way.
It's going to take an act from God to figure out and heal my wife or myself from this garbage. The sad thing is no one can tell us precisely what is going on to cause these issues. Is it still an active infection, auto-immune issue, permanent changes to how our bodies work which make this the 'new' normal.
Modern medicine has failed both of us pretty miserably and so has the Lyme medical community as no one has any answers as to what is happening.
Rikky,
I’m sorry to hear that. I’m sure I have asked before but can’t remember, have you thoroughly looked into possible mold exposure? The fact that both you and your wife have not responded to treatment as hoped would make me even more suspicious.
Also have either of you taken cholestyramine? I posted this to you a while back but don’t know if you saw it. I watched the video of the Canadian couple and the woman had severe symptoms and was treated. She had some improvements for a few weeks and then went back to being worse. The doctor finally tried cholestyramine, and that was a life changer for her. She’s recovered now.
There is a reason, Rikky. Don’t give up trying to find it.
Sometimes I think we get jaded or make assumptions about
possible factors or treatment options because we hear so much and know our bodies. I know I do. Still, there is always, What If xyz was the key for me? (Reminds me of the story in the Bible about
Naman (2 Kings chapter 5). Naaman was disappointed with what the prophet told him to do to be healed and wasn’t going to do it until his servant persuaded him. Once he obeyed, he was completely healed of his leprosy.)
