Thirteen kids! Good grief! My grandmother had eight kids and I thought that was a lot. Living to 106 is another amazing feat. It seems you have some good genes in your family. Maybe I should reconsider blood transfusions and get one from your Uncle!
I definitely agree with your wise comment about
keeping the mind sharp by continuing to "work" (hobbies, volunteer, etc.) after retirement. Things have gone downhill for me physically and mentally, since being sick. "Use it or lose it" definitely applies, as does "If you rest, you rust."
Funny you mentioned a Bridgeport milling machine, as I was recently watching YouTube videos of a guy resurfacing brake rotors. My background is in electronics, so I know virtually nothing about
mechanical engineering, CNC machines, etc., but I'm fascinated by it all. I often think I should have become a mechanic, as I think it would be somewhat relaxing to work with my mind and my hands while rebuilding engines. Perhaps more as a hobby or owning my own shop, versus working for a dealer with all the pressure they endure.
