Thanks so much for the info borrelio, do you take it as needed or everyday and if everyday do you know how long I should take ot to level out my glutamate? I know that foods with MSG make me really dizzy and spacey so I avoid them and that has helped but added get this in might help me even more. Girlie, that quote about not knowing who you are anymore is really sad and it dose sound like depersonalization. Mine is more where other people don't feel real called derealization, like you said it's very weird and scary, I'm glad you are not expediting it anymore.
Yes I take as needed, like for instance today after I had some leftovers from a prepared deli hot pork dish that likely had a cheap and easy flavoring to it aka. MSG laden-flavor-salt ...I'm sure all supermarket delis have it...it's in everything I swear lol
Usually 500mg does the trick, but sometimes twice a day so like maybe 1 gram (1000mg). As for you I can't really give you specific directions as IANAD (i am not a doctor) but you must consider your diet and overall toxin load currently, if I'm eating clean and keto or IM fasting, I usually don't need it. The headache I get with MSG and heart racing, Taurine seems to work almost instantly as it hits my tongue from a plastic knife from the bulk supplement sack. I don't take it everyday, just when I'm eating bad which is only half the time lol
My guess about
monosodium glutamate vs glutamine supplement (confusing!) but it has to do with complex organic chemistry and bioavailability, enzymes, ph levels in your body, and your genetic makeup (like CBS and MTHFR mutations)... I would guess..and this is just an educated guess is the way salt (sodium) acts as a delivery molecule versus other chemical compounds, like sulfate or carbonate, but that's just my basic understanding, never took an organic chem course, just have an interest in science writing.
And the DP/DR neuropsychiatric manifestation, yep I've had it among other unpleasant psych/neuro symptoms...and whoever said it, I also avoid contact with people or going out in public when I feel like that...
