Mandy,
If I recall correctly, your parents house had mold and your mom had some symptoms which could have been from mold.
Was this her first Lyme test? Did she have a tick bite or bullseye rash?
I’m curious if you don’t mind me asking. My mom is affected by mold and had two positive mycotoxin tests. She’s never been tested for Lyme and I don’t think she has Lyme symptoms, but she does have mold symptoms. She asks me every so often if she has Lyme or if she should be tested for Lyme.
I believe I was born with at least bartonella and had some symptoms of babesia since around age 6. I didn’t knowingly become sick until 39, but I always had little, bothersome things wrong with me. If I really was born with any of this, obviously I would have had to get it from my mother.
I have a lot of thoughts and ponderings about the Lyme and mold connection. I know there are people who get CIRS from mold or other biotoxins who claim they don’t have Lyme. However, with Lyme testing being what it is and the lack of testing of coinfections, for the most part, I have doubts about their disavowal of Lyme. Could they actually have latent Lyme or bartonella?
I don’t know if I believe that CIRS is simply a matter of genetic susceptibility combined with exposure. For some reason, I think it’s more than that. Just thinking out loud here.
Hey,
yes!! my parents house tested moderately high for “normal” mold, and high for dangerous mold in my room!!! they have lived there for 13 years and my mom has had tolerable symptoms her whole life.
this is her first lyme test! she only has found out about
lyme through my research and my journey of having lyme & bab.
she has had no tick bites that she knows of, and no rashes. but both she and I have had low grade symptoms our whole lives. we also both got a “summer flu” that refused to go away when I was 11 years old (one year before we moved into that house they live in now) and we were completely bed bound for over a month before my dad made us go to hospital and get Abx, which “fixed” me, but my mom had leg and arm numbness and dizziness and facial numbness and anxiety and a whole bunch of horrible symptoms for months before getting back to what is her normal.
I think moving to a moldy house had made both of us worse, mostly insomnia for both of us (at one point, I wasn’t sleeping more than 2 hours a night but discovered if I slept outside on the trampoline under the stars I would sleep like a baby so I slept outside all summer! little did I know it was mold!). My mom has had rlly high BP too, and my dad has weird rashes that spread and “eat” his skin and are constantly oozing white clear stuff. it moves around, once in his scalp, once on his whole stomach, another time on his nose, once in his feet. they are very clean and have a nice house.
i’m not sure if I am helping your thinking out loud Q or not...
but I do know, my moms mom almost surely has lyme! she has had “neurological inflammation” as a teen with recurring fevers, they diagnosed her with meningitis (isn’t that the word for inflamed brain?) and she also got “glaucoma” which has slowly made her go completely legally blind. I was also diagnosed with “glaucoma” when I was 16 before my body fell apart with lyme symptoms at age 17. but come to find out my glaucoma magically was better after lyme treatment. my then-LLMD said lyme can totally cause higher eye pressure.
I kind of think my mom got it from her mom. my Grandmother was raised on a farm in ohio, totally tick country. that’s where i’ve had ticks on me when I was 7, at my great grandmothers farm!
sorry this is long
