No improvement in almost 1 year, what now?

In October it’ll be a 1 year of being on full lyme and babesia protocols (mostly buhner + supporting detox supplements, vitamins, minerals, etc.) and 4 months bartonella treatment. Blood work showed positive babesia and bartonella IgGs and lyme specific bands. While we can't prove an active infection, my LLMD is convinced this is what is causing my primary symptom of severe insomnia.

So what would you do if you were me when you see my LLMD next?

Basically, my most important concern is none of this is working so what do we do now and “staying the current course” for another 6 months without any improvement in symptoms seems silly to me. Is it because there are OTHER things my body is dealing with and we should start testing for everything else now (mold, heavy metals, parasites, etc.)? I just want to get my life back on track but it's hard to see a light at the end of the tunnel if I can’t even get a 2% improvement from anything I'm doing.

No abx at all. Well I technically tried them for 3 months like 5 years ago but after reading so many books I decided herbal was the best way to go for chronic lyme & co-infections (I’m assuming 25+ years ago I was bitten). And of course 3 months of abx wouldn’t even put a dent in that.

Changing rooms, changing houses, sleeping on vacations like Hawaii, practicing excellent sleep hygiene, etc. hasn’t improved my sleep at all (not even 1%) and so hasn’t anything else that I’ve tried.

Have you had many blood tests? Hormones, nutrients? OAT? Stool test? I'd say that if there is no change at all after one year then you're on the wrong path. Have you tried more alternative explanations? EMF, grounding?

I would try abx - see if it brings on s herx

A person doesn’t usually have a reaction from an antibiotic that resembles a herx.
A herx is generally more than an isolated symptom/reaction.



It’s worth a try if you’re not getting a response from herbals

This sounds like a parasites problem. Parasites are notorious for causing sleep disturbances. Your body is in a constant state of stress at night because that's when the bugs are active. Do you grind or clench your teeth any? That's a telltale sign of parasites causing sleep harm. Do you sleep worse during the full moon? Do you wake up at the same time every night/morning? Check out the Chinese body clock and see if you wake up at the same time every night, which body system is struggling. If it's the one that coincides with liver or colon, that narrows it down some. Have you treated parasites yet?

That’s interesting about the humaworm. I was going to try it, but didn’t know you had to quit all other herbals. Have you tried mimosa pudica? Coffee enemas? I get liver flukes out with my CEs. There is the Gubarev protocol that is all enema based. Colon hydrotherapy? My ND told me to use ivermectin from a co-op. Not condoning taking medicine not from a pharmacy, but I did it with good success. It’s the same medicine, just for animals. I used a really small amount once a week. But other than that, I really don’t have an answer. I am struggling with it pretty bad myself. They’re a huge problem for me. But I am using homeopathics and some herbs to tackle them at the current moment.

After reading what you said about parasites and coming back after treatment, I have heard if you have mercury or heavy metals it can be hard to get rid of parasites. Also if you have dental infections or root canals (including asymptomatic cavitations). If any of those are present, then may have to deal with those before you will be able to keep parasites out.

Everyone has left great suggestions. I'll only add that the most improvement for me came when I switched to a ketogenic diet. At the very least paleo would help.

After doing mimosa i started to get sensations of things crawling (no itching). I convinced myself it was muscle related but was only happening about a week a month for 4 months. I then found parasite, so no denying it - i was totally grossed out. I don’t travel much, never eat raw meat, etc. I guess I didn’t believe it when these docs say everyone has parasites. So mimosa just kinda pushed things down but did not kill. I have never had itching down there so never fully expected this. I do have trouble sleeping, restless legs, clenching.

Based on pics, i thought pinworm but my doctor who uses ART thought hookworm. My pcp initially prescribed 2 doses of albendazole which i reacted immensely too - flared up itching in sinuses, trouble sleeping, restless leg (I also took a few doses of pyrantel palmoate at the same time). A month later I saw my new lyme doc and he said i needed 2 more weeks of albendazole. Unfortunately the 2 wks did nothing. I’m wondering if I have a second parasite that is not responding to albendazole or if these things become resistant.

I think this is why klinghardt has you cycle through all the parasite meds. You just never know which parasite you have and which med will work. Also, go after it strong with pharma the first time and learn from my mistake!

I see the lyme doc in Sept so we’ll see what he finds. It would be a miracle to get rid of these symptoms. I think the parasites are causing a version of MCAS for me, or maybe it’s independent. I’m getting evaluated by a local immunologist/allergist (insurance covered!) in October.
