Are there any antibiotics that are safe for your gut?

My mother has severe leaky gut and we've made some tiny progress towards getting rid of it. However, she needs a root canal or tooth extraction. I am scared that she'll have to take antibiotics and it was antibiotics that gave her severe leaky gut and mast cell activation. Plus, she has been diagnosed with dysbiosis. Are there any antibiotics that don't destroy your gut? Could any of the herbals be used instead for a tooth infection?

All antibiotics kill bacteria - so they will affect the gut.

If she has her tooth pulled - she shouldn’t need abx. I never took abx when my two wisdom teeth were pulled.
I don’t think it’s standard to be on abx after root canal either...

I found amoxicillin the easiest abx to tolerate - of all the ones I’ve taken.
But not sure if it’s one recommended for mouth infections.

Dentist said that she'd need antibiotics if he pulls it. She has an absess on her gum. Root canal doctor said she wouldn't know whether she'd need antibiotics until they did the procedure. I am scared. We've only just now gotten past reactions to foods and leaky gut -- and it took almost a year.

Hi cakegirl,

about 4 years ago I had several extractions done in order to get implants in my gums and the surgeon prescribed antibiotics which I didn't fill. Instead I did 2 things:

1. I previously ordered Dr. Jernigan's Microbojen (after talking with Dr. Sara Jernigan) which I took afterward (I never got an infection) and there were no side effects.

2. I rinsed my mouth with a product called Nature's Answer PerioWash because of the ingredients.

Obviously my advice can't supercede that of the doctor but I can tell you what I did when I had my wisdom teeth pulled to avoid abx.

Upon waking, after every meal and before bed I would rinse my mouth with salt water then fill a plastic syringe with colloidal silver and irrigate the abscess where the tooth was. It healed up fine. If an infection did begin, though, I would have taken the abx
