Lyme disease is baffling, even to experts

Jova - I am on lamictal and latuda and trazodone for sleep. I have tried stopping them, weaning off them, and I just can't. I really do need them. I don't know if it's a lifetime thing but at this time in my life I do. I don't think they do that much damage to your brain, and in any case neuroplasticity can still fix the damage. I really do not appreciate when people tell me they cause "irreversible" brain damage because I don't have a choice but to take them, and I really don't think that's true anyway. What would cause irreversible damage is going off them, getting absolutely no sleep, and thinking myself into a paranoid state, and winding up in the mental hospital on even more meds.

My poor father was put on them - in the psych ward.
He was given Ativan and zopiclone while in the hospital for a few weeks after hip surgery.
After he was discharged we realized he was addicted to the Ativan. He was having interdose withdrawals and constantly looking for his next dose.
He ended up in the psych ward where they stopped those meds cold turkey PLUS the Effexor antidepressant he had been on for several years (was prescribed it when my mom died)

Oh - correction - they “weaned “ him off the Effexor in three days...
Such idiots.

He went into psychosis - too much for his brain to handle.

... aaannnnddd then came the antipsychotic meds.

He was never the same - he ended up in a full care facility - pretty much a zombie.
Broke my heart to see him like that.


I should have sued the hospital - on top of all that crap - while he was in the hospital recovering from hip surgery - they decided to change his insulin one day - from a long acting one to a quick acting one (or something like that)
Gave it to him before bed without him eating a snack and he went into a diabetic coma.
That also killed a few brain cells.

Ok enough of my depressing stories...

Every time I hear that story it infuriates me. I can't believe it yet I can, and I know it happens in different forms on a daily basis.

I am on the lowest possible dose of meds that keep me stable at the moment. But I do not think they are rerouting my brain in a way that is causing permanent damage. My brain is already damaged anyway. If anything they're keeping it from becoming worse. I understand where you're coming from but you were more of an extreme case and yes Seroquel will turn you into an obese lethargic zombie, it's known for that. My meds allow me to not be anxious, depressed and awake all the time, so if that's the price I have to pay for "irreversible damage" then so be it.

Fact is, there are no real, proven, "experts" for lyme, ......if there were, we would not be here!

The typical LLMD knows no more than many long term lymies have learned on their own.

I just read on the MN dept of health website, they still go by CDC........."lyme only needs treatment 2-4 weeks"......"chronic lyme does not exist" ect........LOL, when will they change?

Even Johns Hopkins University out east proved this wrong............they made a report, showing lyme stays after 4 weeks of ABX sometimes.

This is even conventional medicine EVIDENCE that they are IGNORING .
