DIY adipose stem cell therapy

Now that the FDA has outlawed adipose stem cell therapy (because they realized it was effective), what are we to do? Apparently the FDA is allowing choice clinics to perform the procedure, but you have to pay 500k to have it performed, where it used to cost 5k.

It seems like a relatively easy treatment. Could this be done at home? Could someone create a DIY adipose stem cell therapy kit? What would be required? I suction device. Numbing agent. Centrifuge. Dry ice. An IV. An instructional DVD.

I know it sounds crazy, but it's either a DIY option, or going to India or Mexico to have the procedure performed. At least if you do it yourself, you know everything is sterile.

Blue are u asking about platelet rich plasma? I believe it’s still being used - in my Province there are Drs who have been using it for healing joint damage.

The more I think about it, the more I think this is the only way forward for us.

The most likely way for us to cure this disease is to go on a year of intracellular abx (as described by Horrowitz) plus a year of regular abx (doxy/rocephin iv) and then to go on stem cell treatment to repair all the damage that was done by the abx and the lyme/coinfections. The stem cell treatment (thanks to the FDA) is now more than average Americans can afford. 25k for a good treatment. We will need lots of treatments/doses. Maybe every 3 months until we're better. I can't afford 25k every 3 months. I could barely afford 25k once. DIY might be the only feasible and affordable way to go. Of course, there are risks.

You're right running wild. It's too bad they're stepping in. Adipose stem cell treatment by US Stem Cell was somewhat affordable (around 5kish). Unfortunatly, the FDA made US Stem Cell stop this practice about 2 months ago. Everyone who had adipose stem cell supplies at the facility lost their supply. Very sad.

I'm starting to get the impression that umbilical cord stem cells are better than adipose tissue stem cells.

I think they only use adipose stem cells from your own fat, not stem cells from umbilical Wharton's Jelly.

Yes, I think you're right. Logically to me, this seems like the way to go. I just hope that it works and it's not a waste of money. If I were to receive this treatment, and it did absolutely nothing, then that would be very depressing. I guess there's no guarantee. I'm not a rich person, so that would be a huge blow financially. It takes me a year to save up 10k. The procedure is 25k, so that's 2 1/2 years of savings. That's as long as I've been at my current job, which is unthinkable for me to think of using all that savings on one procedure, especially if it does nothing. Tough things to weigh I guess.

The way I'd play this, if I decide to go ahead and do it, is to ask my boss to lay me off. Hopefully I could get 8 months of unemployment. During that 8 months, I'd ask my LLMD to treat me intensively with the Horowitz protocol which would include intracellular abx, doxy, maybe an IV rocephin. Then once the 8 months is up, then take a trip down to Panama for the stem cell procedure. Hopefully that would repair any damage that the intensive abx treatment did. I also think I might have heart failure because my hands and feet are always swollen with blood. Hopefully it would have a positive effect on that. Of course, there's no guarantees about what it will and won't do. It may very well do nothing at all.

It could be the case. I am definitely keeping an open mind. 25k is almost my life savings, so I need to think critically about the risks and rewards. I saw someone put a review on Stem Cell Institute saying that they think it was placebo and they didn't actually inject them with stem cells, which is incredibly scary and stopped me in my tracks. In theory, that could happen. These people are operating out of Panama afterall. I need to get well versed on the subject. I just purchased Riordan's book. It seems good so far. Just started Chpt 1.

The reality for me is I think I need to accept the fact that in addition to Lyme, I've developed heart failure. My hands and feet get more and more swollen with blood by the day. I waited 9 months in hopes it would go away, but it's only gotten worse. I think this is from use of (FDA approved) Rogaine for hair loss. I think this drug caused my heart failure or made an underlying heart failure issue that I didn't realize I had, much worse.

The other problem with stem cells is they only work for a certain amount of time. If I were to get injected, would they be able to permanently fix my heart damage, or would they only fix symptoms for 6 months, or would they do nothing at all?

If they fix my symptoms for 6 months, maybe I need to get injected with stem cells every 6 months. Well, there's no way I could ever afford that. I know this is a crazy thought, and will have anyone with classical medical training pulling their hair out and screaming at me, but with 25k I could probably build my own stem cell lab. I need to read more about this, but it is a thought that I've had. If I had my own lab, then in theory I could grow cells and inject them every 6 months. That's the only way I could afford to inject myself every 6 months.

Heart disease is a certain killer. It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when. I know having a stem cell lab sounds crazy, but if I do not do this I could die. So what's crazier? Dying or doing something to prevent dying? I guess it's a question of rationale, really.

I'm going to the cardiologist next week. We'll see what he says. I'm quite certain I have heart failure, and I'm almost certain he'll tell me I don't have heart failure, because that's just what doctors do in my experience. They seem to deny, deny, deny, until they can't deny anymore. I don't have time or money to play games unfortunately. I'm concerned this heart failure could result in a stroke, which happened to my friend's dad. It was really an awful thing. Drooling on yourself in a bed waiting to die. That's not for me.

Have you had the testing? I mean they can’t hide results from tests right?

I would think stem cells may be able to repair damage done - but I don’t see how it can treat the infections.

about three years ago, before the Rogaine, I was having the chest pains. I had extensive heart tests performed and they all came back negative. It costed at least 6k, or more. I'm not willing to have more tests done that will come back negative and pay 6k. I'd rather save that money for stem cells.

Oh yikes - 6K to test? That's just ridiculous... I don't really know how the U.S. health care works...but it sounds like only the rich can afford it.
