Instead of the long known faulty two tier testing system, currently in place there is a new means. The new means involves doing two EIA tests at once as opposed to the EIA then Immunoblot.

I personally feel that most, if not all of the stuff put out in the media regarding this disease is paying it lip service at best. PCR testing may be available in the next year as well which is a good thing.

Unfortunately this man's research was shut down. (By none other than the CDC!)

Anyhow, just thought I'd report that for anyone who's interested. The injustice of this all sickens me most of all. The way sufferers are treated, is as bad as being sick with this disease.

If anyone knows of Carl Tuttle (he has a petition but I won't post it as I'm unsure of rules) you'll know how imperious and horrible those at the IDSA and CDC have been to sufferers at times. Worst of all, today's update told of a 17 year old boy dropping dead in NYC because of none other than Lyme disease. It's sickening that 300000 can get this disease a year and nothing gets done.

Thanks for post and information, jolaleye. I find one quote that hits home in the top-link article:
"We are still looking for even more improvements in testing because these antibodies don't necessarily reflect active infection and can reflect past infection."

That is the most confusing part of all the testing, for me. I just mentioned that in two other posts. Does IgG at very high numbers mean disease is still causing symptoms, or that just with IgM?

I don't know about the confections....but for Lyme, we don't just look at Igm, we can have active infection with IgG as well. Sorry, I don't have any sources - but I have read this many times....plus that's why we test both IgM and IgG.

But, you're right - the IgG can show up even after successful treatment....

But why two EIA tests. They're just repeating the same test? What am I missing? Why not do one EIA test plus the Immunoblot right away.

I had an IFA screening test (similar to the EIA) test and it was negative.....so they didn't do the Western Blot.

I then did the WB with Igenex several months later...and it was positive. Didn't bother with the Screening test.

I don't trust John Hopkins. They'll end up creating a test that provides 100% false negatives, and say See! You really don't have lyme disease afterall. It's all in your head.

We need to approve petri dish cultivation testing. There is no way you can deny that test. That's why the CDC is so afraid of it.

Well Johns Hopkins is where Ying Zhang et al seem to have found our other potential cure for Lyme...the Daptomycin/Doxy/Ceftriaxone combo.

So a lot of good coming from there.

I actually think Johns Hopkins is one of the places that will stop the obstruction and harm caused by the old school of Steere, Shapiro, Wormser, etc...

Even “mainstream” schools will move away from the misleading publishing we have seen. With Steere as an example, he will just be more and more ignored by the scientific and medical community as it comes to light that he is in fact incorrect on many things Lyme and has taken a harmful path to patients. He ego will not allow him to change his mind but he will disappear.

There is solid evidence supporting the fact that the infection can and does persist and there are just too many patients. Soon, I don’t think even the charisma and confidence of Old Steere will be able to convince the scientific and medical community that relapsing Lyme infections are a worldwide hysteria caused by predatory doctors and labs for their own monetary gain. He has worked hard on this myth but time is up.

Johns Hopkins is helping Lyme patients. Their research centre cannot snap their fingers and take away the absolute criminal and harmful IDSA Lyme gatekeepers but it will help build science that helps expose how terribly negligent the group has been while taking your money. Change is coming.

I hate to be eternally skeptical, so I hope you're right.

From what I've seen coming out of these elite institutions thus far is chrony-ism. They seem to all be in cahoots. Harvard, Yale, Mayo, ect. It would be nice if one of these institutions took a different approach. Hopefully you're right.

I'm finding the more and more I hear about, Harvard, Yale, & especially John's Hopkins in relation to Lyme, I run like he$# in the opposite direction to what folks from these schools suggest. Ironically, they're only hurting themselves and "stellar reputations."

Maybe not everyone from them isn't opposed to chronic lyme, but it seems to be the exception not the rule.
