I posted a few weeks ago when my third child tested positive for Lyme. Now my mom has been diagnosed too! (By her PCP -- CDC positive.) That's me and my four nearest living relatives. This thing is like a family curse.

I am so overwhelmed. Spinning my wheels. Working a few part-time jobs but not getting a single thing done at home. House is a disaster, and I'm rarely cooking or doing laundry. Food is a real issue: Three of us are supposed to be gluten-free, two sugar-free, a couple low-carb, one tested allergic to beef, and we're all supposed to eat healthful, ideally organic food. I used to cook family dinners every night. But now I just can't. Fresh vegetables that I used to cook lots of are rotting in the fridge.

More importantly, after two and a half years of treatment for myself, I don't know what to do in terms of treatment for the family. The older kids' LLMD has had her license suspended, the little one was prescribed only one month of amoxicillin by another local LLMD, and my mom 21 days of doxy from her PCP. Two of the kids are showing PANS/PANDAS symptoms. My mom knows conventional medicine is not correct on Lyme, but she is 75 and has a hard time going against her doctor.

We believe our house and my classroom have mold, which I think is a major factor, so we've agreed to start moving myself and the kids to my mom's house. And we're finally getting started on a long-overdue divorce.

How am I going to do this?

Oh, dear!! You have your hands full. There’s nothing impossible with God. You are not alone. He will help you walk through this, and so will we.

Take a deep breath and remember what the most important things in life are - the love and joy of your family and people who are important to you. The tasks will get done eventually. Do ask family, friends, neighbors for help with anything they could help with.

When you feel overwhelmed, take a break from the tasks and all the “doing” and take the time for just “being.” Cuddle with your kids and read to them or watch tv. Hug your mom and spend time doing your favorite things together. If your kids are big enough and well enough, ask them to help with chores or preparing dinner. Just a few ideas here.

BTW - Getting away from the mold (and possessions that have been in the moldy environment, especially paper) should be the first order of priority.

Dahlias - I’m so sorry - gosh that is a lot to deal with.

Re:meals - it would be easier if you all went gluten free - and all stayed away from beef.
Cooking and Eating GF isn’t a big deal - I did it for several years because our son has celiac disease.
Don’t bring gluten items into the house at all - so there is no accidental gluten eaten.

Buy only chicken/pork and you’ve got the no beef covered.
With all that going on dietary wise - it’s prob less work and stress for you all to be on the same diet - I think?

This disease can wreak havoc on the best of marriages (we’ve had some troubles ourselves) - it’s very sad this is happening to your family.

WBF, I needed to hear that.

We're all pretty much on the same diet, except the youngest, who has a lot of food issues, and my mom.

The oldest two are responsible for some chores. The oldest is in her first year of college, though, and she's struggling. The middle one mostly stays at Grandma's house now due to the mold bothering him a lot, so his chores aren't done. (Though they usually weren't done before anyway.) We need to revisit the system. The youngest is old enough to take on a chore or too now.

Daisies, I'm sorry your mom seems to have it too and is in denial. I'll find that email.
