I just did a quick free test and read up on some of the personality types. I tested INFJ. The descriptions fit me.

1% of the population, huh?? I guess that’s why I never found anyone just like me. I rarely found anyone I really connected deeply with, either.

I did find deep satisfaction in reading the descriptions of my personality type. At least “somebody“ out there “gets” me, even if that “somebody” isn’t an individual person.

I agree. With the mold and chemical sensitivities I have, it supposedly requires extreme avoidance and detoxing for a long period of time to all the hyper immune response to correct itself.

I haven’t done that because I keep trying to enjoy life the way I can. I’m sicker, though.

I think genetics plays a part in personality type. That would explain the unusually high amount of “rare” types here. There’s a genetic component to chronic Lyme (and possibly acute Lyme). I have one of the HLA-DR multi-susceptible genes for biotoxins as well as the Lyme susceptibility gene.

I LOVE camping - one summer we bought a new tent trailer and the three (hubby, our son and I) of us went camping several times each summer.
It was so much fun. We had a favorite destination that we towed the trailer to each summer.

Then I got sick and after a year or so we sold it. I was really sad - I look back on those years we camped and it seems like another life... it’s a strange feeling when you look back and all these years have passed but you feel like you’ve just stayed in the same place...hard to describe.
Then I look in the mirror and see time has marched on... lol.

I like camping in the natural/wilderness ares vs "family campgrounds". It was hard to do with my wrenched spine, better now, but I need several sleeping pads.

When your within reach of natures beauty, camping can be an awesome experience. Many people in "scenecly" boring areas or hot humid areas (the south) might never experience it, unless they dont mind driving far.

It was a short, wet summer again (all three months of it). Snowed in May, and this fall has been brutal, already snowed, and will snow next week. Im not ready for winter yet. I hope to go camping next summer. Two falls ago I went up by Canada, fours days..........went from 50F down to 30F at night, then snowed on the way home. Four falls ago went to the same place and woke to scattered ash falling like snow from a forest fire.......changed plans ASAP lol. No people there, no lives endangered.

Rustic campgrounds are getting filled up earlier with higher camping fees. I wouldn't mind making a camper van on a budget, possibly disguised as a utility maintenance vehicle (with magnetic fake company names) , so I can discreetly park - on forest land, or in town along the way..

Some people go snow camping- just wow.......not for me. Hiking frozen rocky (shallow) creeks is cool though. Never know what the weather will do..... I remember America in 87-88 as the hot, drought years- thats when global warming became a "thing" talked about.

Jova - I’m so sorry you can’t read to your son - I can’t imagine having a younger child at home with the state I’ve been in.
He knows I have lyme but I spare him the gory details... as much as I can.
You will be reading to him again - you hang in there - you’ve got a plan and you’re moving in the right direction now.

Since being so sick and having awful mold and chemical sensitivities that keep me from going inside a lot buildings, I have learned to appreciate the outdoors more. I’ve also changed quite a bit.

When I was a kid, I had all kinds of adventurous dreams and desires, fueled by hearing the stories my dad and grandad told about their Huckleberry Finn childhoods. I longed to run barefoot through woods and swing on ropes hanging from trees, jumping into lakes, playing in caves, and such things. While I was a tomboy, in reality, I had tender feet and couldn’t tolerate going barefoot and was afraid of roaches, frogs, and spiders. I would dig for earthworms, though, and could bait my hooks with crickets. Around age 11 or so, I turned girly and didn’t like to get dirty and sweaty anymore.

In the last 3 years, I have embraced sweat and dirt!! Since sleeping in my car the past few months, I have gained more tolerance for bugs, sweat, and dirty feet than I have ever had in my life. I have even lost a lot of my fear of bugs. I sat on the porch and barely flinched when a roach flew across the porch right past me. I look in amusement now at insects I’ve never seen before and didn’t even know existed.

I also discovered stars at night. Where I lived most of my life, we had so many trees around, you could hardly see the moon or the stars, and I never sat outside at night. Where I am now, I have a much better view of the sky. It’s nice.

My mom and I rode to a nearby small, country town this week to their annual fair. We went last year and loved it. I think we’ll make it a yearly tradition. It’s the best fair I’ve ever been to. They had a petting zoo with all kinds of animals and a derby show with monkeys riding dogs. The chickens that were entered in the livestock competition were absolutely breathtaking. I didn’t even know God had made such beautiful breeds of chickens.

Driving home from this fair at night through the country felt like a great adventure to me. Very little street lights to mess up the view of the stars over the fields of cotton. I loved it. My mom got nervous, though. She’s afraid of everything, especially getting lost at night. I have lost most of my natural fears over the past few years, and to me, that alone feels wonderful!!

Nice to see this thread has turned around into what we miss doing lol. I miss hiking. My knees suck and I get such pain the day after. Last I tried I did a fairly easy one-mile hike in the woods. Regretted it the next day. Couldn't walk. I also wish I had the ability to play sports but my athletic skills/stamina have always been abysmal.

I miss eating what I want and not dealing with repercussions. Not having to make odd requests of the waiter to walk into the kitchen with a literal laundry list of all my random food allergies. Not worrying about the next day when all the inflammation and weight gain hits me in spite of watching everything I eat. Yeah I definitely miss those days.

Oh yeah and I miss drinking. I just like cocktails is all.

I kind of stopped my hobbies for a while except for a Women's Dinner and Movie Group I'm in. A friend with Stage 4 Cancer has begun telling me to get back to my painting and quilting. She said life is different now, find joy in what you can. I just ordered a sewing table and chair so hope to restart that.
I do a mid-week urban hike that is about 5 miles with a meetup group when I can. I've found that cool weather is better. If it's hot and humid I just can't keep up. I do take quite a long nap and ice my back afterwards. I'm usually last but I've found that there's normally at least one other person who can't walk at the pace the organizer's set. So far they've been very understanding and I finish when I can. I think I can do it because it's usually pretty flat and sometimes we stop for lunch midway. That makes it much easier. When they do the entire 5 miles or so without stopping that makes it more difficult for me. I'd love to do the longer hikes and bike rides they do but I've had to accept my limitations. The problem is most of these people do many hikes and bike rides together so I haven't really made any close friends. I'm thinking of starting a meetup group for people who want to do leisurely walks in local parks or meet for coffee or watch television together. I'm getting divorced so it can get very lonely and I know there are other people out there with health issues that might be interested.

I like your hobbies😊. I never learned quilting, but I did a little cross-stitch and crocheting when I was a child. My grandma taught me. I made some small cross-stitch pieces. I remember making a pin. I think it was a 🍓. I only remember trying to learn stitches with the crocheting. I found it too hard. I couldn’t keep the piece from curling up on me.

Starting up a group for leisurely walks or coffee sounds like a great idea. Hope you make some good friends who will keep you company. And welcome to the forum!!!

They are Lyme related but I'm not sure they will ever truly resolve, like my laundry list of food intolerances and issues keeping my weight down. That has only worsened over time.

Thats too bad jb. Sorry to hear the issues have worsened - I hope this does turn around for you.
