Urinary Tract Infections and Yeast

These are both definitely common. So are other related issues, like systemic candida infections and non-infectious urinary tract dysfunction. Were you looking for remedies?

For UTIs: anamu, D-mannose, cranberry, tons and tons of water, probiotics.
For yeast: garlic, tea tree oil, unsweetened yogurt and probiotics (ingested or as DIY vaginal suppositories), berberine.

Check the search function on this forum, as lots of people have posted remedies for these in the past. It's definitely worth considering how these relate to systemic illness and address them as part of the bigger picture. Your mom should not be eating any sugar at all if possible, including fruit, juices, cow's milk, and simple carbohydrates like white rice, potatoes, and breads. These infections all thrive on simple carbohydrates, and starving them really helps.

I bought UTI test strips to test myself for UTIs when I have symptoms. For me, it's never actually been a UTI despite the same pain and other issues. For me, sometimes it correlates with menstruation and related hormone changes, but other times it seems more like interstitial cystitis. I recommend that people keep the test strips around and save themselves the hassle of a doctor visit, especially if they are inclined to use natural remedies anyway as a first treatment.

At the first sign of vaginal yeast, I apply a drop of tea tree oil to the lower inch of my vagina, and it never develops into a full-blown infection. If someone develops a vaginal yeast infection more than once (some would argue even just once) then you really should explore the symptoms and treatment of systemic candida, which can go with Lyme and antibiotic use, and is relatively common even in non-Lyme folks.

After all my treatment - with no obvious yeast infections - I now have one - funny because now I’m only taking abx 4 days a month - and NOW I get one?

Took diflucan for two days and it has mostly cleared up (I’m talking “down there”)

I re-read the posts and Sara’s reminded me what else I’m using topically in addition to the diflucan.

I add a few drops of tea tree oil to coconut oil and before bed I apply some down “there” (inside) .
It may have contributed to resolving it as well.

Oh and I also eat a couple spoonfuls of the coconut oil (not with tea tree oil!) daily.
