All meat and fish should be frozen for 3 days because this successfully kills both parasites and eggs according to my brother who is a food scientist.
Hey, auzzie, here's something I just read. Just FYI, since we were discussing the matter:
-------------------------
FreezingFor food to be eaten raw, such as fish and some meats, freezing for several days can inactivate or kill some parasites.
- Fish should be frozen at –30°C for ≥ 15 hours in a commercial blast freezer or at –20°C for ≥ 7 days in a domestic freezer to kill Anisakis (184). Some other parasitic worms require longer or shorter periods at freezing temperatures.
- Freezing meat at 5ºF (–17°C) for 20 days, –10ºF (–23.3°C) for 10 days or –20ºF (–29°C) for 6 days destroys trichinae in pork (41;175), but this may not be adequate for trichinae in wild game. Infective trichinae have been found in polar bear and grizzly bear meat frozen for 24 months (41;131).

Wow...
