I had these exact two things done about three weeks ago (anaesthesia for upper GI, and barium swallow/CT scan). For me, they did the swallow a week before, to identify any areas of concern BEFORE they did the upper GI. I didn't have any issues with the swallow. However, the upper GI have me headaches for about 10 days. When I went back in, they said to stay/get hydrated and use some electrolytes to help...once is started the electrolytes, the headaches went away. The headaches weren't horrible, but they weren't fun. I believe they were a reaction to the anaesthesia (I don't remember the name of the drug, but they did out me completely out, and lasted about 15 minutes, and they took biopsy). If you're having other problems, you have to do this to help you figure out what's going on, and treat it, and help your body get stronger. Everyone is different, you may be completely fine. Focus on the outcome, and I wish you all the best!
