Lyme also can morph into a cell wall-deficient form when threatened, and because many abx work by bursting the cell wall, this form is not killed by those abx. So sneaky.
Additionally, after the first few weeks, Lyme is not just hanging out in your bloodstream. It can be in your brain, tissues, organs, etc. Various antimicrobial treatments are better at reaching those places than others because they are not accessed the same way. This is why some of the stevia hoopla died down - yes, stevia is a great Borrelia killer in a test tube, but it doesn't penetrate the intestinal wall, so it might only kill Lyme in the GI tract.
So it's complicated, especially with Lyme that can be intracellular, dormant cysts, spirochetes, cell wall-deficient.... Really, all due respect to the crafty Borrelia.
But I hear you, it's nice to know what's going on at a micro level.
